Good dark red; not crystal-clear. Very ripe, musky, multidimensional nose combines blackberry, raspberry, violet, earth, game, black pepper and herbs, plus a positive vegetal nuance. Plush, silky and very ripe but not particularly sweet, with concentrated dark fruit, spice and pepper flavors complicated by a hint of prune. ("More fruit ripeness than the '15," noted Aubert de Villaine just moments after we had tasted the '15 La Tâche) Finishes with substantial dusty tannins and a note of licorice. Not particularly high in acidity but this extremely complex wine is still just short of its peak drinking window. (Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, March 2018) — 6 years ago

Bright acidity, leather, black plum, and some tobacco. — 7 years ago
Ruby red color with exuberant red fruit, exotic spice, rose hips and cola aromas. On the palate it's very fresh and well balanced with velvety well integrated tannins with cherry cola, raspberry, spice flavors with a very appealing minerality, and a long finish. Opened up very nicely over the course of a exceptional meal at Spruce SF. Perfect paired with Liberty duck! 2010 Vintage #enofylzwineblog — 8 years ago

The 2016 Pinot Noir Monterey County is a gorgeous appellation-level wine, not to mention just flat out delicious. A wine of impeccable balance and total class, the 2016 is impossible to resist. A high percentage (85%) of whole clusters adds layers of aromatic nuance without pushing the wine into realm of greenness. Sweet red cherry, tobacco, mint, crushed flowers and mint are some of the many nuances that develop in the glass. Fruit sources are Coastview and Kevin Olson. The Monterey County is bottled after about eleven months in barrel, earlier than the vineyard designates. There is so much personality and character here. In short, don't miss it! Seriously, World-Class good.... — 6 years ago
Remarkable 2014 Pinot Noir from Big Basin Vineyards. They've made a stream of my favorite wines of the year and this may top it all - so far. Spicy and funky and will get better with age. Winery of the year!? — 7 years ago
Very nice beautiful color, mineral note slight grassy touch crisp finish — 8 years ago
Incredibly zesty and crystal like for a wine so southern in Burgundy ! It reminds me of Chablis in terms of style for the body and citrus notes and Macon for the slight toasty flavour and roundness in mouth. Delicious and refreshing. — 9 years ago
Stunning quality. Balance of fruit, spice, and barrel. Toasty long finish. — 10 years ago
Crystal amber in the glass. Crunchy forest floor. Wet earth. Stewed apple and cinnamon. Boozy and warming. — 11 years ago
Rhonely Boy
Clear, light lemon yellow
Clean, medium intense notes of white floral, stones, clay, lemon, beeswax. Soft and pretty nose.
Dry, medium acid body and alcohol (13.2% ABV). Flavors of lemon, mild apricot, mineral. Finish is a medium+
Very good, and would love to revisit this vintage in the future. Brie & apricot pizza.
Would be interested to see a Roussanne+Marsanne collaboration with Donkey & Goat (Skin Fermented Marsanne)
