Not sure whether this is the wines reaction with glassware or not but there is a tinned peach / apricot note that shows through that isn't present out of the bottle. But it happens with most glasses, very unusual. Ripe blueberry and rhubarb pie notes. Raspberry jam and coffee grinds. — 9 years ago
Very polished, nice supporting acid, like a lemon cream pie. drinking very well right now- and was fantastic on a day like yesterday #hotaugustwhites #shafer — 10 years ago
Classic aged Sauternes color with mature flavored notes of dried pit fruit and warm pie crust. Excellent with berries and vanilla ice cream. Simple is best with this wine. Still has many years of life and joy to provide. — 10 years ago
Divine. Rich, golden color. Long-lasting, tiny bubbles. Apple pie with a drizzle of caramel. — 11 years ago

For my 888th review, I chose this wonderful Napa Valley Petite Sirah.
Dark deep purple /almost black, with a purplish rim.
An explosion of ripe black fruits on the nose with blackberries, prunes, dried figs, raisins, plums, raspberries, oak, vanilla, licorice, spices, leather, dirt and black pepper.
Full bodied and bold, with medium plus acidity and long purple legs.
Bone dry and fruity on the palate, with blackberries, figs, raisins, chocolates, prunes, cherry pie, black currants, earth, leather, spices and peppercorn.
Long finish with huge, green tannins and bitter spices.
This Napa Petite Syrah is still young and needs 3 more years in the bottle, but it is very enjoyable now, if you can tolerate the big tannings, or if you have it with BBQ Meats.
I enjoyed it by itself, by the pool. Not fully balanced, yet it has enough acidity and tannings to last it for a long while. This 2012 vintage is very ripe and very enjoyable.
14.1% alcohol by volume. — 9 years ago
Smooth and mellow. Fruity. — 10 years ago
The color is very opaque. The leg drip is 9 seconds at 3/4 glass start to 1/4 glass. The boquet is blackberry pie. There is no tanic / alcohol aroma at all. The initial palate is that of blackberry, currant, cigars, and pepper. The finish is butter. No aftertaste. It is dry, but not over done! Perfection in a wine. Finally!!!!!!!!!!! worth every penny!

Light garnet color bordering on delicate with fine sediment. Musty almond paste on closed nose. Tart apricot, cherry pie. Clover, allspice finish. Lingering menthol appears with time. So many more notes rise and fall with food. Soft, luscious, curious and lovely. — 9 years ago
Could be one of my favorites behind its big brother Cherry Pie! — 10 years ago
40 years later and still tasting amazing, though not much for bubbles left. Tasted like earthy, nutty apple pie — 10 years ago
Rhone garrigue + California fruit = Rigde zin. Ching took the trip to Little Star as a throwing down of the gauntlet and pulled out the semolina flour and cornmeal for a deep dish pie. She even managed to acquire some little gems for salad. Ridge provided the finishing touch. — 10 years ago
