Purchased this 2008 Owen Roe Syrah about 7 years ago from Atlantic Wine, a sort of innocuous wine merchant in North Buckhead Atlanta. I do remember it shared a building with an upscale outdoors outfitter (Yeti, Patagonia, North Face, etc...) along with a large Goodwill Store/Donation Center. I always kick myself for not going in that Goodwill, and imagine it was an treasure trove of never used luxury camping gear. Instead, I opted for whatever mix of First Growth Bordeaux was in stock at Atlantic, which inevitably left me a bottle short of a 10% discount, thus resulting in this purchase, and later to be stashed away in the back and bottom of the cellar. I had completely forgot about this ghost bottle until tonight. Despite the wax seal, I still was slightly concerned that it might be past its prime, so I pulled the cork... An exotic, but pure cacao that’s pleasantly unforgiving, and cautiously allows in some lush blueberry compote, along with finocchiona rolled in fresh cracked pepper with thyme, tarragon, and lavender. Could certainly last another 5-7 years, but it’s too stunningly beautiful now to resist. — 7 years ago
Great Washington Rhone blend. Another Owen Roe winner!!! Dark cherry and strawberry notes with chocolate and mint flavors in the finish. Well balanced and elegant. A dark wine to compliment a dark story. — 7 years ago
Like it. 30min. Interesting floral — 7 years ago
Blueberry and plum. Getting something vegetal/grassy too but can't make it out. Very enjoyable wine. — 8 years ago

2014 vintage.
Had this for the first time at the winery in Yakima late last year and was blown away by the freshness and quality of fruit. Lemon verbena and tropical fruit and petrol jump out of the glass and onto your palate. Dry, but with a midpalate roundness that makes it more interesting the more you drink it.
Also, the label looks like the Tower of Joy from "Game of Thrones". — 6 years ago
Delightful Syrah. Very fruit forward on the nose. The taste is nicely balanced, the fruit giving way to an unctuous flavor blend, pepper, leather, and bits of olive. The finish could be a bit longer. — 7 years ago
2014 vintage. Rounded fruit flavors of melon, poached pear, yellow apple, unripe pineapple, white flowers, little waxiness from the Roussanne. Nice little blend with different contributions from each component variety. — 7 years ago
Tried this at New Seasons, brought it to a dinner party. A hit all around 2015 — 8 years ago

Gorgeous! Tobacco and berries, lush fruit. Balanced acidic backbone. Exactly what I want in an Oregon pinot. — 9 years ago
Just picked this us today in Boise... a pleasant surprise.... at my nephews house at Mountain Home AFB — 6 years ago
I love the dusty rose note I get from Owen Roe Syrah in the aromas and on the palate. I also get cocoa, sweet spices, and blackberry aromas. The texture is lovely. I'd like to hold onto this for a few more years, but it is juicy and tempting now! — 7 years ago
Bold. Dark. Spice. — 7 years ago
2008. Another dry cork, but delicious wine. Buy it if you can find it. — 8 years ago
A step up from a crowd pleaser. Smooth and balanced. — 8 years ago
Great acid, aroma of minerals and stone fruits. — 9 years ago

Very exceptional effort from Owen Roe, with some bottle age. Warm compote and brown sugar with mild acidity make this a nice sipping wine with dinner. — 5 years ago
