St. Giorgio Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOCG 2023
From the historic Catellani family, who have been cultivating Tuscan soils since the late 1800s, this Vernaccia reflects both tradition and thoughtful innovation. Part of the S. Giorgio Collection, it offers a clean, elegant aromatic profile with the kind of quiet charm that defines central Tuscan whites.
Lightly crushed and fermented at cool temperatures to preserve its fragrance, the wine opens with delicate fruit tones ofpear, citrus, and soft orchard notes, that gracefully evolve into a subtle mineral finish.
On the palate, it’s dry and harmonious with a classic Vernaccia almond note on the close, balanced and refreshing without overstaying its welcome. Whether paired with fish, simple veggie dishes, or enjoyed solo, this is a graceful, easy-to-love white that speaks to place and care. Simply lovely. Cheers! — 5 months ago

Ideal Chianti. Dry and pairs well with food, but also fruity enough to enjoy on it’s own. Notes of cola, cherry, and some vanilla. — 4 months ago

A super Tuscan that Rhonda loves. Buy a case or two. $15 at total wine and more (and often 15% off). Thus is the IGT. There are several others that look similar. — 2 years ago

St. Giorgio – Chianti Classico Riserva 2019
Tuscany, Italy 🇮🇹 – DOCG
Overview
Made predominantly from Sangiovese, this Chianti Classico Riserva reflects Tuscany’s classic profile with its red-fruit core, oak aging, and elegant structure. The Riserva designation ensures extended aging (at least 24 months), which adds depth and polish to the wine.
Aromas & Flavors
Plenty of ripe red fruits — cherries, raspberries, and strawberries — framed by subtle vanilla, toasted oak, and a hint of spice. A light herbal edge ties it back to its Tuscan roots.
Mouthfeel
Medium-bodied with balanced acidity, lightly firm tannins, and a smooth flow through the finish. The oak adds just enough roundness without overpowering the freshness of the fruit.
Food Pairing
Perfect alongside Tuscan classics like bistecca alla fiorentina, pappardelle with wild boar ragu, or aged pecorino. It also pairs nicely with grilled pork chops or tomato-based pasta dishes.
The Verdict
A polished, versatile Chianti Classico Riserva that balances fruit, oak, and structure with finesse. Enjoyable now for its supple fruit and texture, but it also has a few more years of life in the cellar. Cheers! — a month ago
