This was the star of Thanksgiving. The barnyard nose was (strangely) inviting with hints of white pepper. But the flavor... oh the flavor, was excellent. We let this breathe for an hour and could/should have let it breathe for another hour. The flavors changed from spices and cherry to smooth cola. Reddish black cherry color. Slightly translucent. Doesn't show its age in the glass. Nose of warm fruit with kirsch, with some secondary dirt and spice notes. In the mouth there wonderful rich coating of ripe black cherry, some wood, and still active tannin. Well balanced. Lasting finish. Great showing.
