A small departure to explore the provenance of this wine...
As you can see from the image, this wine was purchased from British Airways after Concorde was decommissioned in 2003. I was in the right place at the right time when Concorde's cellar was liquidated - My then wine merchant secured 10 bottles. Now onto the tasting.
No visible signs of aging. The nose is redolent, but carries the typical French Bdx wine signature of dark fruits, graphite and licorice.
On the palette, the wine is pristine and so precise. It's deftly balanced with plums, cloves, tobacco and saddle leather. I decanted this and it continues to evolve to a lovely place.
28 years on, this wine is singing. A real pleasure and a privilege to taste it. — 9 years ago

This was outstanding... Same dirt that produces Petrus... A Higgs find... Colonel approves... Kenny thinking lower left quandary... Man-Gary & Pat concur... — 8 years ago
Despite the fill level, which was down into the shoulder, this was drinking exceptionally well. Tannins resolved, but plenty of fruit remaining to contrast with the many earthy components. Has an old Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant sticker on the back. He hasn't steered me wrong yet. Now known as Chateau Hosanna. — 9 years ago
Sadly this is not available, as a wine merchant bought the lot and sold it cheaply, but it deserves recognition as a wonderful Barossa Valley
wine, full of flavour yet soft and easy to drink. — 9 years ago
One of the most wonderful tastes to experience- mature riesling; this is a 24yo, colour looking brassy but taste astonishing; palate power a mix of spice- brulee- lime-sour citrus; racy acids, 11.5% alc; #sa #edenvalley #leoburing #leonay #riesling #aussiewine #smart ; leonay is the name of the original Barossa Valley which pioneer wine merchant Leo Buring (died in 50s) established. — 9 years ago
Yummy Chardonnay. Thanks you Boulder Wine Merchant. — 10 years ago

From the Wine Society: This is the source of the bulk of our Beaujolais for the last 50 years, and many members will also have tried the fruits
of The Society’s work with this excellent Beaujolais-based négoce in the form of our bestselling white wine, The
Society’s White Burgundy, sourced from the Mâcon.
Dealing with a négociant allows The Wine Society to pick and choose, often blending together from different estates in
order to end up with a wine that is better than any of its parts.
Négoces have had a huge part to play in the recent history of Beaujolais, some of it not so good but some of it very
positive. For all its apparent simplicity, Beaujolais is a complicated region that is often the victim of its own capricious
climate with late frosts and violent hailstorms a common recurrence.
The one name that stands out for us is Dépagneux: Jean Dépagneux was the last of this illustrious merchant family
who, with his partners, bought up a list of ailing names such as Aujoux, which had made its name selling Beaujolais to
the once profitable Swiss market. Jean retired about a dozen years ago and his place was taken by a young and
talented oenologist from Viré called Jean-Marc Darbon. One consequence of the change has been the meteoric rise in
the quality of The Society’s White Burgundy. — 8 years ago
