Abbaye de Saint Bon Chien

Wow: a fantastic beer. Never seen the Grand Cru version of Abbaye de Saint Bon Chien, but it's awesome. Can't quite describe it, but it's a terrific balance across carbonation, sourness, and flavor. Yes, I realize this is a horrible tasting note, so let me put it this way: if you have a chance to drink this, don't think about it, just order it! — 9 years ago

Château Haut-Brion

Graves Red Bordeaux Blend 1970

OK, how many times do you get a chance to drink a 44 year old first growth? One of my fav all time Bordeaux producers. This wine still has it's substance...the cork came out clean too. It's leather, barnyard, cigar and smooth. What a colorful wine. Wow! — 11 years ago

This was great, an offering from Jeremy Nickel, great fruit, enough tannin and the % did not overwhelm, given a chance I will buy more — 10 years ago

McClellan Estate Vineyard Petit Verdot 2007

This is the 2007. Lovely vanilla on then nose along with red and black fruits, cedar, and nutmeg. Palate is rich with a lovely velvetyness after its had a chance to breathe for a bit. There's a touch of licorice and plum on the palate too. Pleasant medium finish. — 10 years ago

Melka

CJ Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2011

Lucky to have a chance to meet and work with Philipe and Cherie Melka and Sylvie the other day. Enjoyed this wine with hangar steak and onions, mushrooms, and broccoli with garlic. Now the wine. Nose has cocoa, black cherry, tobacco, and hints of orange rind and green bell pepper. The palate confirms the nose with a cherry and dark spice. Green tannins support the fruit without being offensive. Actually, a comfort from some of the fruit bombs in Napa Valley. Most enjoyable with a long finish of dark spice, chocolate, and a hint of green pepper. #melkawines — 10 years ago
