This was a winner. Black cherries and red fruit shine forth once the tannins have had a chance to mellow out. Chocolate, herbs and earth throughout. Well structured. — 9 years ago
Better than I expected! Currants! — 9 years ago
Plummy and full. Fruit balanced well by tannic structure. Better after a few hours open when tannins had a chance to recede. — 9 years ago
Loved learning about the role hummingbirds play in the development of this wine's grapes. — 10 years ago
This is the 2007. Lovely vanilla on then nose along with red and black fruits, cedar, and nutmeg. Palate is rich with a lovely velvetyness after its had a chance to breathe for a bit. There's a touch of licorice and plum on the palate too. Pleasant medium finish. — 10 years ago
Nuff said. I was honored just to get the chance to open it for a patron. Didn't expect to get to taste it but we really connected and she shared. Probably could sit for another 10 years...in the decanter! Just wow. #firstgrowthbordeaux #pauillac#auction #agedbordeaux — 10 years ago
OK, how many times do you get a chance to drink a 44 year old first growth? One of my fav all time Bordeaux producers. This wine still has it's substance...the cork came out clean too. It's leather, barnyard, cigar and smooth. What a colorful wine. Wow! — 11 years ago
Color of dark hazy purple. Nose of ample dark fruits with waves of ripe cherries, sugar plums, a bit herbs, a bit anise, slightly black tea. Taste of thick mouthfeel of sugar plum, black tea, black pepper, dense and silky, medium firm tannins, really tasty. Aftertaste of lingering sweetness, black tea, right to the point, no edge and really mellow. Enjoy it, or stock them up if you have the chance. — 9 years ago
Watermelon! — 9 years ago
Fruit but not too much of a bite. Tasty. — 9 years ago
Good fresh acidity on this bottle of 82. Dark fruits with minty notes. The tannins was a little too grippy for me- I cannot imagine how this wine taste like when it was young. Overall- still a great chance to taste a wine like this. — 10 years ago
Wow: a fantastic beer. Never seen the Grand Cru version of Abbaye de Saint Bon Chien, but it's awesome. Can't quite describe it, but it's a terrific balance across carbonation, sourness, and flavor. Yes, I realize this is a horrible tasting note, so let me put it this way: if you have a chance to drink this, don't think about it, just order it! — 10 years ago
2005 Second Chance did not disappoint. — 10 years ago
This was great, an offering from Jeremy Nickel, great fruit, enough tannin and the % did not overwhelm, given a chance I will buy more — 11 years ago
Light body, very notable fruits without the residual sugar. — 11 years ago
This is one of the Single Block Cuvees from Two Paddocks owned by actor and raconteur, Sam Neill. Sam is an engaging and very funny guy - could have done Stand Up! From the Program and Bio - "Producers and Purveyors of Pinot to Gentry and Ratbags since 1993."
This wine was 50% whole bunch as with all 3 Cuvées offered. Textbook Otago Pinot with wild Thyme nose, cherry and luscious silky mouthfeel with fine tannin structure. — 8 years ago
Had a chance to decant this 09 for hour in restaurant, still very young, however after hour decant started showing the lovely long legged lady with the long black dress in black pearls! Pure subduction ! — 9 years ago
First drink of the 2014. Find it a little of disappointment. Little flat and dare I say, very sweet. I love Caymus so I will give it another chance and let you know — 9 years ago
Very nice. Highly recommend this one. — 9 years ago
Terrific! Gobs of fruit and layers of pure joy. Sorry they don't make it anymore. — 9 years ago
Absolutely glorious Pinot Noir. Scorched earth mushrooms. Yummy. The toasted heads of the oak still noticeable 23 years later. An amazing effort most people will never get a chance to taste. — 10 years ago
Had a chance to try this 1964 vintage, was velvet on the palate. Now I just need to try the four other first growths to compare... — 10 years ago
If you ever get a chance buy this bottle if less than $25 — 10 years ago
Delicious...Super,..SuperTuscan! Soft plum, white pepper, cedar bouquet. Rich, smooth deep black currant, tar. Slight talcy finish. Full bodied and pleasant long finish. — 10 years ago
Lucky to have a chance to meet and work with Philipe and Cherie Melka and Sylvie the other day. Enjoyed this wine with hangar steak and onions, mushrooms, and broccoli with garlic. Now the wine. Nose has cocoa, black cherry, tobacco, and hints of orange rind and green bell pepper. The palate confirms the nose with a cherry and dark spice. Green tannins support the fruit without being offensive. Actually, a comfort from some of the fruit bombs in Napa Valley. Most enjoyable with a long finish of dark spice, chocolate, and a hint of green pepper. #melkawines — 11 years ago

I think it's hard to find a Chardonnay like this in the world so I stashed a bottle. It has the butterscotch fermentation element on the nose that says "California" which I love in steady doses. And it has the live, cold and ripe citrus acid element and that I find in Chablis. On top of that it's not very buttery, it has subtle minerality, stroke of vanilla.. there's a chance you drink this wine at the right day and time and can think it's a perfect 10 Chardonnay isn't in my wheelhouse of loves but this is an exception. For me tonight it's just missing... Peaches🍑 — 8 years ago
