What an interesting wine! It rounded off a wonderful evening with dear friends at Rouge Tomate in Chelsea, NYC, where the service was as excellent as always. This sherry was made from a famed solera called "GF30" that apparently dated back to the 1940s. Such complexity and intensity. Orange peel, toast, walnuts, salinity, and so much more. Minty-eucalyptus, smoked green chiles (in a good way) and fatty bbq smoke on the nose. Elegant mouthfeel with plum, peach skin and dark cherry notes. Finish is cocoa and light tobacco with a hint of soy sauce. Needs some time to fully integrate. — 10 years ago
