Tree Kilpatrick
An ‘aged’ Zin from 2013. Looks lovely in the glass. Dark red color like a lover’s rose. Aromas of wet nature: Stones, soils, and leaves. Maybe some strawberry-rhubarb pie too. Flavors are meaty and savory. Plenty tart. The cherry jam flavors are of the pie cherry sort here. Mocha and chocolate covered espresso beans on the finish. Little licorice perhaps too. This is complex, funky foothills Zin that hasn’t had its punch washed out or fade with 8 years aging. A great example of CA Foothills Zin for a steal at under $20 a bottle. — 4 years ago
