I have been surprised more than once over how certain vintages of Lafite can seem muted for a long time and then miraculous bounce back and show fantastic at 30+ years.
That being said I doubt this will ever reach the 98-100 range for me....
(1995 enjoyed a few months ago was in a different league). — 8 years ago
Very consistent Cab. While not a single-vineyard, I find its a solid expression of lush fruit and silky "Rutherford Dust" tannins. The '12 was pretty silky, I wouldn't reach for it to accompany a dinner but it's a crowd-pleaser on its own. — 8 years ago
This is seriously good. Lovely ripe, rich, red fruit on the nose, with enormous depth and compelling notes of earth and minerals. I could sniff this all night. The palate doesn't quite live up to the nose - just a little closed in, in need of a few more years to reach its peak. Still, with air the texture began to show seductive, velvety notes and superb length. This is good now, but will be excellent when ready. — 8 years ago
Stayed at the winery (Nov 2015)
Love this wine — 9 years ago
Beautiful wine, with a fantastic finish. I really believe that, for me personally, this will rate reach a 9.8-10 rating with just a few more years to mellow. — 10 years ago
This wine is very delicious. — 11 years ago
Nice with a bit of spice. — 8 years ago
A great wine in an underappreciated vintage. This hits all the classic high end Bordelaise notes of clean cassis fruit, bits of graphite and a light and almost imperceptible bit of green pepper. The nose is complex and lush and beginning to reach maturity but quite a bit of fruit still remains. Decent core of acidity and tannins still not fully resolved suggest this will continue to age well, but this comes across really well for 12y old. — 8 years ago
Very nice, smoky. $58/bottle. Chandler Hill on v-day — 8 years ago
Here is 2009 red blend from Chandler Reach. From Yakima Valley and perhaps Yaktown's better gift to us. Good dark fruit plum and date tones with spicy finish that lingers... for about a week. I like the 25% Cab Franc nice touch in the blend. — 9 years ago
Gonna need a lot more of these to reach conference pace — 9 years ago
2008, A great Bordeaux that needs more time to reach its peak. It was decanted a bit before sipping but not enough. The wine had a deep Bordeaux color, the nose is full of black current, chocolate , coffee and smokey earth, it has a full body with firm tannin that needs to open up and will soften with time, long dry finish. My score 90+, drink 2016-2022 — 10 years ago
I couldn't wait and had to try one from the new shipment. Solid wine on night one, but pretty incredible on night three. I would recommend waiting a few years to let it reach its real potential. — 10 years ago
Sooooooo fresh. — 11 years ago
Earthy spicy bold plum & berry — 8 years ago
2012 vintage, just as good as the 2013. Paired with a lasagna. — 8 years ago
Beautiful wine. Very balanced with the right amounts of fruit, acidity, alcohol and very silky tannins. Inky purple. Six years old and drinking nicely. Probably another 5 or more to reach peak. Every bit a Monte Bello. — 8 years ago
Fruity in a good way. Smooth with no aftertaste. Perfect amount of dryness for me — 8 years ago
How else to warm up for a trade tasting of invigorating Champagne this afternoon? Penetrating Sercial Madeira from the year that brought us the Boy Scouts of America. If wine were merit badges perhaps I'd nearly be an Eagle by now... After this evening's tasting I'll have quite a heavy merit badge sash for Champagne -an obsession that can reach no surfeit -it becomes more fascinating and evermore nuanced. For the moment however I'm awash in crushed kumquats in honey, marmalade, hazelnuts and roast peanuts -all layered among so much more in one of the richest Sercial Madeiras I've tried to date. — 9 years ago
Wonderful wine for the price especially within the reach of any serious wine buyer. — 9 years ago
As spectacular this wine was with its rich tannic structure and the strong black fruit on the opening, I think that this wine needs many more years to reach its prime. — 10 years ago
Fruity, light and fresh — 11 years ago
Under the radar grape! Norton...savage, well, don't know exactly what that means. ;) Try it and you may find out. Enjoy this at Chandler Hill winery in Defiance. — 12 years ago
Bob McDonald
Colour of burnished copper. Notes of strawberry raspberry and tomato leaf. On palate savoury strawberry notes with hints of toffee minerals and a touch of honey. The blend varies between 60 to 70% Pinot Noir and 30 to 40% Chardonnay - zero Pinot Meunière. A full bodied Champagne of profound intensity which assaults all of the senses and will easily reach its 20th Birthday. The full package and stunningly good. Like all great wines It changed over time showing different nuances and flavours. — 7 years ago
