Dark transparent ruby purple in the glass. Nose of blueberry-plum cobbler. Fruity palate of blueberries, blackberries, vanilla cream. Medium tannins and medium plus acidity. Excellent chameleon of a wine just as at home with burgers on the grill (or in the sack from Checkers) as with prime rib. The Coro Mendocino gang is onto something -- as evidenced by homage ventures like the Outer Coastal Plain's "Coeur d’Est" blend -- and we American wine drinkers should support it. — 9 years ago
This is a review for the Jordan Stellenbosch Chameleon Dry Rosé. Fruity but dry rose with aromas of summer berries - like running through a field in the sunshine! — 10 years ago
Its been decided. Savennieres is a chameleon. — 10 years ago
Seriously everyone please look into this label by sans liege. This counoise is just insanity from arroyo grande. A vivacious feel of a light Grenache with a Pinot noir fruit profile. Could literally fool many. A chameleon wine. Need to get many more next time this ever comes around. — 11 years ago
Utterly blown over by this stunning wine. A real chameleon in the glass evolving continually over the course of a few hours. Ripe cherries chocolate and cinnamon leather tobacco but fresh. Lovely silky soft integrated tannins. Lacked a bit of the concentration you'd expect from Amarone. I guess that's why he released it as a table wine. I can't wait to try the Amarone someday — 12 years ago
Enjoyed it alot — 12 years ago
Flirting with austerity, this is Hawaiian Punch made by very serious Germans. Cherries and muted floral notes - a food-friendly chameleon. — 10 years ago
Tempranillo - somewhat a chameleon - is a varietal I almost always enjoy in any expression. This Paso Robles version shows the darker side of its fruits with plum, amarena cherry, and mission fig. There's an initial impression of broken gray earth that builds as the nose opens and gains complexity with dried sage, fennel pollen, and dare I say. ..a whisper of American oak. The tailored structure impresses Ribera del Duero in my mind and I want to open this again sometime. ... side by side with something like Alonso del Yerro's Maria. — 10 years ago
Changes quite a bit. Incredible chameleon - Orange soda, tangerines, grilled cheese, peach pie. Switches between smoked minerals, pollen, a medicinal herb tone, all along shooting acid. This thing is all over the place! — 10 years ago
2009 vintage. Pale lemon hue. Mineral and saline nose. Green apple skin. More closed than expected. On the palate, medium body and medium concentration. The wine isn't showing. The minerality is there, but the complexity is hiding. The length is good, but I was expecting more. NB: after 1.5hrs the wine has finally opened and broadened out, gaining weight and substance. The aroma profile has also changed- green apricot and white peach. After 2hrs, even the colour seems to have changed, taking on a pale golden hue! The green stone fruit is now a little riper, and the finish is longer and richer. This is the Chameleon wine! Note to self: aerate for minimum 2 hours before serving. — 10 years ago
Quaffable with grilled cuttlefish, with chicory salad, with pizza. #chameleon — 11 years ago
Chameleon wine. Started out with bright black cherry, grape bubble gum, black pepper juniper. Opened up to eucalyptus, thyme, cedar and vanilla bean notes. Tannins mellowed throughout. Silky mouthfeel throughout. — 11 years ago
It's the ultimate food wine. Goes with everything. But at the same time, it is too much the chameleon. If it was to be drunk by itself, there isn't a dominant note to define the wine. — 12 years ago
Cinnamon, tannin, spicy and beautifully mercurial. Who knew it could go with everything? A beautiful Chameleon — 12 years ago
Big notes from ox, oak, and citrus to start. A bit honeyed, but opens into a nice citrus punch. A bit of a chameleon. Needs food, would be difficult to enjoy on its own. — 9 years ago
Amazing! A chameleon for a nose. At hour one - black fruit. Hour two - dark chocolate (I was actually shocked by how different it was!). Hour three - a mix. Lovely tannins. Great finish. Extremely well done @Mike Smith ! I'm patiently waiting for the Tuesday release! — 9 years ago
Single malt from India?!? Wow. Very complex with spice and cloves up front, a butts of citrus and honey on the mid palate and a long spicy-sweet finish. A total chameleon. — 10 years ago
2005 vintage. Quite delicate, hazelnut, toasted almond, sweet spice and toasty. On the palate, medium minus body - a little too light for me - decent acidity, and medium plus finish. Better on the nose than palette where the wines lacks substance and concentration. NB: with 1.5 hrs in the glass, the wine has really blossomed and become interesting. Less wood, caramelised pineapple and now a medium body, full concentration wine. Sweet caramel developing on the nose. A chameleon. — 10 years ago
Beautiful new wine for me. Described as "an earthy Merlot," this wine was like a chameleon that went with beets and straciatella, beef tortellini, mint and roasted tomato pasta, and 90-day dry aged rib eye. Absolutely brilliant with our meal. — 11 years ago
This one is a bit of a chameleon. Keeps changing the longer it sits. Wonderful after some breathing time. Cherry, anise, little bit of earth. Deep, round, velvety. — 11 years ago
The other Jordan. #Stellenbosch — 11 years ago
outstanding- havent had such a dynamic white in a while. what a chameleon! — 12 years ago
Really enjoyable chameleon of a wine with dark color from the Malbec, structure from the Cab Franc, and a distinct flavor from the Pineau d'Aunis — 13 years ago
