Q is for Quinquina. Smells like a fortified wine with slight currant aromas, a good amount of acid gets the tongue tingling, the raisin and currant aromas come through the flavors but the body is light compared to a sherry or tawny port. A very nice aperitif... and we'll see how it does in a cocktail! #atoz2021 — 5 years ago

Well named. Hard pressed to not think this was a modern style St Joseph. Ripe fruit, opens up to more tertiary notes and herbs. Well crafted. — 8 years ago
One of my favourite 🇨🇱 wines 👍 @ £55 worth every penny - great now but will be superb in 4-5yrs 😎

Impressive complexity and concentration. Nose of dark ripe fruit, truffle, and violet. Silky smooth palate, round tannins. Enjoyable now, but will really improve with time! — 11 years ago
Nicola catena is the Robert Mondavi of Mendoza they advanced in 15 years what it took the rest of the world 200 years to get to this level. They take from the five family vineyards for this wine. The historic rows are now put on the label. This is the best vineyards and they look for the best location in those vineyards Angelica named after his mother and this is the mother clone material. All the wineries built in Spanish or Italian architecture. Dark berry fruit blackberry and blueberry fruit with notes of licorice spice dark tobacco spice. Another vineyard has a dessert effect because of its low altitude this site gives it structure. Adrianna vineyards is one of the highest and this is the most important violet flowers and freshness and acidity — 12 years ago
Very elegant with silky, polished tannins and lovely floral notes of violet. Leather, black cherry, blueberry, warm wood notes of delicate vanilla, espresso, mocha, tobacco leaf and a background note of mushroom and vanilla. Good long finish.
This wine is 47% Merlot, 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. — 4 years ago
There is an irony thing in the nose along with violet and rose petals and cherry and a bit of black pepper. This is the nose I fell in love with 10 years ago. The palate is very well designed with a strong acid backbone, a very nice round and radiating fruit, a bit of a sweet touch, some nice oily, scratchy tannins which kick things up for a rather long finish with that fruit, pepper and a long lasting floral aftertaste. So great. This is 7 Euro when you buy it from the winery directly and it's 15 kilometers from where I am right now 😍 — 6 years ago

Fresh and sweet, great tasting. — 13 years ago
A wine that I have had many times that has been consistent with my prior posts. Notes of black cherry, raspberry, earth, mineral, savory spice & violet. No rush as there is structure & tannins with good acidity that will allow you to cellar for many years. — 5 years ago
Still young, but definitely earthy and fruity. — 5 years ago
A VERY good young Bordeaux, perfect sweetness, slight spice, and ZERO bitter after taste - highly recommend - had with pork and burger — 9 years ago
Wow. Giving me a "moment" tonight. Reminds me of the good in this world as flavors unfurl. Olives and smoked meat on the nose. Shocks with the depth of fruit and sweetness on the palate. Loads of dark berries, cherries. Violet. Among other flavors. Stays elegant and balanced. Finish sails on. Stunning. — 9 years ago
Medium to dark burgundy in color, edge showing some brick hue, smells of anise, violet, cinnamon, white pepper and fig, medium to full body, very refined sweet tannin, started out slightly muted with high acidity, takes more than an hour to open up, tastes of cedar, tobacco, clove, black cherry, black berry, and anise, extremely smooth and balanced mouthfeel, with a long and lingering finish. Beautiful! — 11 years ago
Intoxicating nose of blueberry, violet, and chocolate. Concentrated and silky smooth on the palate. Very enjoyable after 2+ decant. Young wine, save this one for longer! — 12 years ago
Matt

Stewed black plums, dried bluefruit, creme de Violet, spicecake, coffee, cinnamon, allspice, clove, licorice whip, pastis, powdered sugar, earth, truffle. Richly textured, creamy almost but held up by the tannin. Peak drinking for me. — 4 years ago
