Pale color. Lemon zest nose. Meyer lemon, lemon cream, and dusty minerality. This is a good wine. — 8 years ago

Unusually earthy for a Bordeaux — 9 years ago
Reddish black cherry color. Slightly translucent. Doesn't show its age in the glass. Nose of warm fruit with kirsch, with some secondary dirt and spice notes. In the mouth there wonderful rich coating of ripe black cherry, some wood, and still active tannin. Well balanced. Lasting finish. Great showing. Still on the upswing of its potential. — 10 years ago

Great potential but kinda tight tonight ... — 12 years ago
Weird at first -some residual volatil compounds, but then settled very nicely. Elegant, nice structure. Lovely overall — 6 years ago
2013 Lafon Mersault-Porusots. HB w Mark R and J&H R. No decanting. Didn’t try this one, but Jeanne really enjoyed it. Gave it a thumbs up. — 8 years ago

At 1st matchstick and citrus opening into burnt orange, honey, hazelnut, butter cream, has a slightly oily texture, tangerine, lingering nose, very complex and rich. Absolutely a stunner! — 11 years ago

Excellent vin sur une côté de bœuf environ 35/40 € — 12 years ago
Pop and pour, notes from 45 min open. Lovely, and my best bottle..also my last '12. On the nose: lemon, soft ginger, a touch of honey, some sour apple. On the palate: excellent acidity and density, mirroring the nose. Paired with baked whole branzino, stuffed with onions and herbs...yum. — 5 years ago

Wanted to drink this after listening to Dominique’s IDTT interview. Found the best nationally priced bottle in Pasadena and it showed really nicely, particularly after being open for something like 4 hours. I like his winemaking approach here, which doesn’t seem to be about elevating it beyond its provenance. It’s a delicious, mineral wine that would crush with shellfish and was lovely in the afternoon along with The Trip to Spain. — 8 years ago
Quiet the beast for Volnay. Ripe and rich. Hefty oak treatment. — 10 years ago
Pear, tart apple, slight bit of nutty salinity. Punching way above its weight class! Aww yeeeahhh — 11 years ago

Amazing white burgundy. Pure fruit with a touch if funk. Great acidity and length. Yum! — 12 years ago
100% single vineyard Merlot. Dark burgundy in color, smell of tobacco, dried fig, dried dates, cacao, dark berries and spice, still tannic, needed more air, but is already approachable, a common trait of 2009. It is a bold wine with a long finish. — 12 years ago

When Lafon is on they’re as good as any name in white Burgundy. 2012 Genevrieres is superb after sufficient air, seamlessly balanced between richness and elegance and perfectly developed wafting waves of defined fruit, pastry cream, butterscotch and toasted almonds within its layered minerality. It wraps around the palate with killer concentration and density and a massively long, silky finish. Top tier Chardonnay. — 10 months ago
