Gorgeous wine from the 2000 vintage. Bright and vibrant but also full of savory, saline earthiness. Black and green olive, white truffle, dried fig, raspberry liqueur, black currant, orange pekoe tea, wet stone minerality, baking cocoa, black licorice, fresh earth, forest floor. Soft and supple, like velvet on the tongue. Mellow tannins that finish with a peppery note and surprisingly lively acidity. Well shit. Wildly expressive nose of tea, kirsch, saddle, fennel and sage. Started off too cold but with temperature increase opened up to a beautiful, elegant style CDP with cherry, blackberry, and all sorts of rustic garrigueness. A smoky, blue fruit finish.
