Dynamic and punchy with great fruit still. Quite four square compared to the more silky 75’s alongside with plum, violets and supple fruit. This wine is somewhat unapproachable. Not much fruit even on the front. There are a few attractive notes (dark chocolate) but it's chopped off, no secondary, no tertiary.

Opened just prior to service; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. As far as I know, this was the first commercially released vintage of La Fleur de Boüard but others may be able to confirm or deny that. The 2000 pours a deep garnet color with an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe dark fruits: back plums, cassis, pipe tobacco, Flintstones vitamins, purple flowers, dried green herbs organic earth and fine baking spices. “Yabba dabba doo!” On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. Gosh, this is in a really lovely place right now; very well balanced! Thank Andy! Drink now through 2040. — 7 months ago

For a 25-year-old pomerol…yeah, you could do a lot worse. Classic old aromatics of dried cassis, leather, and hints of menthol, this is an example of why you stow away some wines for a decade or two so you can revisit them on a beautiful Michigan evening. Cheers. — 5 years ago

Dark rubi robe, nose of blackcurrant, cedarwood, top soil and flowers. Very marked by the cabernet in the mouth, its medium bodied, fresh, balanced and with excellent fruit and mature tannins. Excellent and ready to drink but no rush. — 3 months ago
We have tasted three vintages., the 2019, 2010 and the 2015.
The 2019 was closed with no expressive attributes. The 2010, although was from a more matured vintage was surprisingly powerful however the tannins overwhelmed all other nuances ( probably needs some hours of decanting).
The 2015was at its peak. A complex and developing wine. With each tasting there are new aromas, fruit, barrel, maturation and the palate is strong, balanced with a lengthy finish — 3 months ago
On the nose this wine is ripe raspberries and it carries through to the palate. It is structured on soft tannins that dissipate on the palate after 45 minutes decanted. As the wine opens I get a hint of violet mixed with dark fruit. This is a beautiful wine to drink now & I suspect it will remain so another 3-5 years. — 6 months ago

2016. Merlot-based Bordeaux. Rich purity of fruit makes it very approachable for a young wine. Firm tannins up front melt into sappy purple fruit. Some minerals and stone but a fairly one-dimensional fruit bomb at this point. $43 at Bottle King. — 5 years ago
