Surprising Gamay with a classic and classy style, evoking Burgundy by its light side as much as the northern Cote-du-Rhône by its density. The aging in oak barrels is admirable for the way it supports the fruit without masking it. A beautiful bottle with an aging potential of at least 10 years.

Lovely older Bandol, tree bark, redfruits, still some solid structure in this one, long, lingering finish. — 4 years ago
Very Sherry like with mostly oxidative notes but little acidity from the Chardonnay or Savagnin shining through. — 4 years ago

Excellent! Crispy and bright like top notch Saisons. Fizzy like a Tripel Karmaliet.
Would definitely buy again to share with friends. — 7 years ago
Tiny bit sparkly and almost sweet but not quite. Tannin is present. Well-matured fruity scent. Good light-bodied chardonnay. It’s unoaked. — 2 years ago
2018 got better with ever minute it breathed. Super for the price! Young color, gentle fragrance. Mild berries. No aftertaste — 4 years ago

Not normally a petit sirah lover but incredible nose with a soft finish. Delicate without being subtle. — 6 years ago

Well balanced and smooth. Polished. — 2 years ago
Picked up a split of this because all my .375 empties got accidentally thrown out (I use them to store unfinished bottles in the fridge). So I was mostly after the bottle itself but what’s inside happens to be superb—lime, apple and floral notes with fine but not hard edged limestone mineral character, softened perhaps by the clay component of the terroir. I Sancerre-ly enjoyed it! — 4 years ago
Could just sit and smell this all night, but then I'd be sober. Damn. Special juice. — 6 years ago

2019 vintage. Château La Fleur Cailleau, Canon-Fronsac. Bought in 1982 by Paul Barré (also Château La Garde, Fronsac) and managed these days by his son Gabriel and his wife Edith. Biodynamically farmed since 1990. Very impressive indeed, with an exemplary purity of fruit, ripe tannin and energetic acidity. Highly recommended. Abv. 14,5%. — 2 years ago
