Smokey leather and raspberry, velvety smooth on the palate. A hint of oak in the nose. — 5 years ago

Excellent Sauternes, not necessarily a dessert wine but sweet yet nice for an appetizer salad — 7 years ago
Some pretty serious Pouilly Fuisse. Needs some time. — 8 years ago
Good wine good value at less than 4 Euro. — 8 years ago
This is a silkier, more elegant vintage of the Chapelle, at least relative to the 2010, which was really in my zone, as well as the 2009, which I found over-the-top, but in both cases I think there was more stuffing there than here. This would've shown better if I'd opened it with white meat or even fish or something else where a lightweight presence and loose-knit structure is called for. It's an excellent wine in that idiom but lacks some of the solidity and grip it has offered in other years. It's not imbalanced at all, and the trademark stony mineral flavors are still here, it's just a slimmer version of its usual self. — 9 years ago
A delicious wine that should show even more in the next few years. With notes of kirsch and black currant, this soft, but complex wine is delicious. It has slight herbaceous undertones that round out the fruit forwardness. Probably one of the better Chat. Du Papes from this vintage. — 9 years ago

Really quite excellent. Pretty dark in the glass - more than expected. Purple berry aromas on the nose. Very perfumed. Medium minus body with a great long finish. Excellent refreshing acid. Mouth coating. Really excellent and perfect with a simple roast chicken with a vermouth pan sauce. — 4 years ago
Big, mineral flavor. Great even without food. — 6 years ago
Smell like straight apricot. Pineapple, watermelon, peach on palate. Dry, crisp with a mineral brine in the finish. Yum. — 7 years ago

And on the 3rd day it showed the best — 9 years ago
Soy, white pepper, aircraft carrier of big plum jam and cranberry, a touch of heat on the finish, gentle allusions to leather, long way to go but good juice — 10 years ago
A nice Beaujolais from a vintage that I don’t usually love compared to 2014/2016. Definitely better with an hour or so in a decanter to let the tannins integrate a bit more. Dark purple in the glass - darker than expected. Nice cherry aromas. Still could resolve a bit more on the finish but with a slight chill is nice. — 5 years ago
Deep, heady, dizzying nose of strawberry compote, cherry liquer, sandalwood, maybe some eucalyptus, and other exotic woods.
palate also brings damp earth, light rose , and a slight sanguine note. More muscular Than I would have expected out of a volnay. But at the same time precise and fresh with energizing acidity creating a nervy tension. Sensational
I should mention that it needed considerable time. Started off very floral and strawberry but somewhat one dimensional. Several hours later was a different wine

I can't say no. — 9 years ago
Damn. Best in show, price wise. Not necessarily the wine everyone understands straight away, but to me it's pretty much ten on ten — 10 years ago
Syrah, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mourvèdre, Counoise, Cinsault and a white variety Le Rolle. Biodynamic since 1989 and made in a cathedral cave of stone cut from the cliff side. Simply marvelous... — 11 years ago

A great La Chapelle. Blueberry, smoke, spice, dark cherries, loads of earth and mineral. Spicey granite. Lovely floral top note as well. Palate is ripe and so so juicy, incredible freshness and purity and shockingly mineral. The fruit is in background. Has a red Riesling quality to it this year. Fruit is more fruit skin than flesh. Cherry, blueberry, cassis and super concentrated but so nimble. Absolutely delicious. Long mineral finish with floral and fruit sneaking in as it airs. Great stuff. — 4 years ago
