Incredibly expressive nose of dried rose petal and forest floor gives way surprisingly round body with a suave grip and structure. Licorice, candied violets, lingering warm biscuit? — 8 years ago

The cork foil started to bulge so I expedited drinking. It was perfect. Saved in the nick of time. It was 8 bucks at Costco. I don't know how long it was on the shelf at home. If I see it again I'll buy more. — 9 years ago
Delightfully fragrant, nimbly structured and appetizing on the palate this is scrumptious. — 9 years ago

This wine is an awesome value. My new house wine. — 6 years ago
Blackcurrant and spice box with good concentration. There's a bit of forest floor funk in there, especially on the finish. For the price, this is a great buy. — 7 years ago
Holy smokes, was this good. I was so surprised. Pierre Gaillard is the man. — 7 years ago

Painfully French. Garrigue and dusty fruit. Layer on layer and wonderful acidity — 6 years ago
Top end Faugeres in excellent shape, though still a good 6-8 years from its peak. Just returning from a dumb phase and heavy with blackberries, pumbs, pepper, and hints of leather and oak (though not too much). Glad I bought a few cases of this from them at the Fête de Bacchus back in 2009. — 6 years ago
Jean-Michel Alquier's superb 2010- wonderful tonight w coq au vin — 7 years ago

Explosion of ripe fruits, complex long finish with a pePper Notre. Just fabulous — 8 years ago
One of my favourite Languedoc whites. Made in small quantities from old Rousanne and Rolle (vermentino) vines. Densely packed with fruit, minerals, and and plenty of acidity. One of the truly fine and hitherto fore relatively unknown jewels of the Languedoc! [incidentally I opened a bottle from the cellar two days later which wasn't half as good - was it the setting, bottle variation, or company?] — 9 years ago
Smooth and warm and pretty with a lovely blackcurrant finish — 9 years ago

This is perhaps a little closed right now. Syrah-dominant with a fair bit of oak-treatment so will need a little while to blossom. Although it had the mellow character of an early-drinking wine, the winemaker told me that it needs 15 years to show its best. In fact, when I told him the 2006 I opened the other week seemed a little closed he told me to forget about it for another 10 years. Clearly one for the long-haul. — 6 years ago
