Stunning.. This is in a really good place right now. A no brainer in the $100 range if you can find it - not to mention that the director of sales is a good friend. Thanks Mike! — 9 years ago

I have loved this gin for over 7 years. Drinking it with friends. Dieser Gin ist einfach geil. Seems as if marketing for sales has brought this into the lime light. Sometimes marketing hurts more than helps. Just know, it was expensive in Germany before the hype and US release. But it is literally amazing. Paar kumpels und Gin aus'm Schwarzwald. — 10 years ago
A very dry, earthy wine. Good legs. Some good fruit up front and a good nose. Clean finish. Actually very good for a wine of its price (got it on sale and I have to agree with the sales dude on this one so I'll probably go back and get more). — 11 years ago

Beautifully made wine from a non-traditional wine growing region. What impress me the most is the fact that it does not attempt to copy a popular, easy-to-pronounce, and most likely French varietal such as Merlot or Chardonnay for the sake of sales and marketing. Kōshū has been grown in Japan for 1000+ years . White peach, pear, and fresh cut grass on the nose. Delicate almonds, citrus and mineral on the palate. — 8 years ago
Mind blown. How is it possible I've never even heard of this producer before? Thank you to Mannie Berk and Rare Wine Co. for putting Champet on the radar. This fully lives up to the sales pitch. It is about as ultra-classic a Cote-Rotie as I've ever had, almost like a cross between Levet and Jamet. Even the label design is retro. The material is red-fruited, savory, and succulent, with a pronounced stony/graphite streak. The stems are immediately evident giving the wine some spine and tension and a bit of a green snap. On some sips the tannic muscle is evident, on others it's fully absorbed into the wine and the texture is almost velvety. Thus, while the flavors have that meaty syrah succulence that you could sort of describe as rustic (more beefy than bacon here), the texture here is actually quite refined and civilized. No funk going on here either. It seems pretty close to straight soil-to-glass transfer Cote-Rotie. — 9 years ago
It pays to socialize with the sales reps from time to time, never know what they might leave you with.
This has a big nose with milk chocolate, some mint and cocoa wiffs, as well as airline cabin and chalk (?!). Keep in mind I have been tasting this on and off since about 2:45pm and it was opened around 11 am I think.
Im told 07 was awesome for Brunello and Amarone, this proves that it is. It matches flavor and feel perfectly. I could drink this forever.
It's rich, semi-dense. So powerful. This stuff makes me very happy. All I need now is a pot roast to go along with it.

This is a very nice, smooth, light pinot noir. And a percentage of sales goes to conservation efforts for the CA Condor. Cool. — 10 years ago
Was told that this is a wonderful old vine Zin...the sales person was right! Wonderful balance and I rarely like Zins! My wife even likes it and she dislikes Zins!! Very nice finish on the palette! — 10 years ago

When "more money than sense" collides with good timing- you walk in to make a long shot sales call and the somm (a Sonoma native) shows up with a bottle that was sent back because it was "over the hill". The result- you are gifted near perfection. Dried mango, green tobacco and autumn leaves after a rain (east coast-centric description). If only all Chardonnay could taste like this... — 9 years ago

Recommended by sales person at Nicolas wine store in Paris. It is really good! First nose is of a wine cave where a lot of red wine rest in barrels. Smooth finish no bite in the least. Tastes of berries soft. — 11 years ago

12 months in barique, 6 bottles in case, sales for $41.00 about. Pungeant nose, very earthy, wet wool, red fruit, Akilia comes from the word Aguila in Latin. Lots of strawberries and red fruits, very well balanced. 8/10 a bit expensive — 12 years ago
