Château Croizet Bages

Château Trotanoy

Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 1982

Dark tawny, regal in its color. Silky, killer nose. Notes of black fruit, dark earth, cassis and leather saddle, some barrel toast. Tannins resolved as this coats what it touches in the mouth. Really nicely made wine. Guessed 82 Lynch Bages. — 3 years ago

Château du Vieux Puit

Cuvée Croizet Blaye Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

Dried red fruits and some spiciness in the palate. Not a long finish. Probably a little past its prime but pleasant for Sunday afternoon and pairing well with Stilton. — 3 years ago

Dominus Estate

Dominus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 1999

Not my favorite vintage of Dominus but paired well when served blind with the 00 Lynch Bages showing Bordeaux like notes of red & black fruits, cassis, earth, cedar & leather that was not as rich & aromatic as the LB. — 5 years ago

La Fleur Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2010

One of the 3 second wines of 5th growth Haut Bages Liberal. Even better than the last time - typical Pauillac barnyard notes. 92 — 7 years ago

Château Lynch-Moussas

On the nose: cedar, leather, cassis. Medium to full-bodied with a long finish. Better than Haut Bages Liberal — 11 years ago

Domaine des Sénéchaux

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2016

Have CdP somewhat rarely now but was curious to try this both because it’s 2016 and because it’s now owned by the Cazes family of Lynch-Bages in Bordeaux and who have been extremely hospitable to us in the past. Was skeptical of the 15% labeled abv but I think this is in a great place with a bit of a chill. The fruit is quite powerful, but in a great way, and nothing is overbearing. Perfect with skirt steak off the grill. — a year ago

Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

Delectable Wine
9.5

The 2018 Grand Puy Lacoste has a quintessential Pauillac nose of intense black fruit infused with graphite scents, pencil shavings and a very discreet marine influence. It is beautifully defined, less opulent than the 2018 Lynch Bages tasted alongside, yet maybe more complex. The palate is medium-bodied and taut, offering sappy black fruit, gritty tannins and a lot of crushed stone. The focused, graphite-driven finish could only come from this appellation. Superb. A wine to correct those bemoaning that Bordeaux no longer makes "proper Claret." (Neal Martin, Vinous, March 2021)

Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1995

The final bordeaux I tried in this night. Nothing stood out here, nice wine but this and the lynch bages were overshadowed by the las cases in my opinion. — 7 years ago

Château Lynch-Bages

Blanc de Lynch-Bages White Bordeaux Blend 2011

2011 vintage. Spectacular wine that is really still getting better. Pale golden hue. Grapefruit, grassy, white blossom, honeysuckle, mineral and appetising. On the palate, medium body and medium plus acidity which gives a lemon zesty note to the wine. The mineral character is more apparent and there's a green pea note too. Good concentration and long finish. Fabulous and unbelievable value. A top top wine. — 9 years ago

Sensvs Criança Pla de Bages Syrah Cabernet Franc 2013

Wonderful nose - macerated berry, tomato leaf, mild cheese (cheddar maybe) white pepper.

Flavor. Medium alcohol, medium high acid, silky and delicious, nose matches taste - tighter tannins. Very good.

Petit Bernat Pla de Bages Macabeo Blend 2021

Low aroma, light bodied, citrus accents with a slightly bitter aftertaste. Easy to drink, pairs well with gazpacho, vegetable dishes, and sea bass. — 2 years ago

Château Cos d'Estournel

Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 1982

Beautiful - aged gracefully - fruit giving way to more prune - classic well aged Bordeaux - lovely to drink - but the ‘82 Lynch Bages won the night. A treat to drink. — 3 years ago

Black cherry, worn leather, and licorice are nothing new together, but this has a skillful balance of brightness and brooding that keeps me plenty interested. Unexpected blend. A great bargain. — 6 years ago

Dark cassis, red florals and milk chocolate on the nose. Blackberries, dark cherries, cooked strawberries, creamed raspberries, dry cranberries, sawdust, spice, tea, some cola, the high tannins are resolving, lower acid, juicy fruits make for an enjoyable finish. Great value wine for a 2009. Drinks well now and for the next 10 plus years. Made by The technical team at Lynch Bages. — 7 years ago
