Young. Much more tar and dark fruit compared to the Calon segur 95. This is more intense in body and finish. More pronounced acidity. Needs another 5 years to smooth out more — 7 years ago

Tasted blind. Tawny color, translucent with amber rims. Notes of black cherry, cedar, some spice and a little barnyard floor. Sweet fruit in the mouth, with tannins fully resolved. Guessed 1955 Calon Segur. Perfect looking bottle, the cork revealed this bottle was reconditioned by the Chateau in 2000. — 7 years ago
At twice the price of a Calon Segur 2010, this Lynch Bages did not stand a chance... needs more maturity still. — 8 years ago
Inky violet red. Green pepper is less prominent and the body is juicier and fruitier than other cheap Bordeaux I've had. Oak age defines this: the tannins are big but silked out considerably, and the aroma and finish are decidedly that pruney oak deal. Part of me likes the sharp raw green pepper thing, but this is much more drinkable. This is a buy-again winner. — 9 years ago
Well well well. Delivered in spades despite it being a furtive end-of-evening PnP. Super classic, beautiful stable fruit and wood. Huge length. WOTN for me if only that the ‘96 Calon was still so young. — 4 years ago

The nicest part of a late afternoon meal in a chain restaurant in Lyons shopping district. — 8 years ago
2nd wine of the night. Completely differen than our 1st. I kept myself wanting to go back to Calon Segur but alas there was now to be had. This had dark fruit., big Cab and a rather short finish. Very good but not awesome tonight. — 9 years ago
My fav bordeaux of the night but others preferred the '85 calon segur...this was lightsr and more elegant, and more ready to drink but will still hold for several more years. Great mature old boots, leaves and mushroom with a kiss of cassis still hanging around...very well balanced, well oaked classic bordeaux. — 10 years ago

Second bottle - Nose: chocolate, dark berries, a little breadiness (like bread dough). Taste is smooth, nice blueberries and a little tobacco (?). Don’t get the herbs I got from the first bottle. Still a great bottle of wine. — 4 years ago
