2006 vintage. 54 Cab Sauv 27 Cab Franc 10 Merlot 7 Petit Verdot 2 Malbec. Amazing how tightly-wound the structure is on this wine, considering how old it is and how long it had been open today. Grippy, woody tannins and acid-driven fruit dominate the palate. Cranberry, lingonberry, red currant, graphite, cedar, tobacco, menthol, tarragon, anise, black rocks, over-steeped black tea, walnut husk, decaying leaves. Lots going on here and definitely feels like it could have made it another 5+ years, still a behemoth in terms of structure! — 9 years ago
(Y) Orig $54; paid $37. First enjoyed with LJ & Lisa the day before I deployed to Afghanistan in July 2010. Good memories good wine. — 9 years ago
Tight out of the bottle...but a fabulous nose...lovin' 54% Cab Franc — 10 years ago
Awesome. Don't forget to chill to 54 degrees. — 13 years ago
Smooth Carmel flavor and color. Serving temperature of 54 to 57 allows the full flavor to come through. — 13 years ago
Gary Vee club selection! Amazing!
Red fruit, leather, bell pepper, mint. Lucious mouth feel with some spice at the end. It’s Medoc but 54% Merlot which is unusual. But it is delish. — 7 years ago
This stuff was absolutely amazing. Like, a baby SQN, and not near the price. Certified organic, and owned by two Dallas natives!
A blend of 2 great vineyards: Paderewksi (which is used in some of the Saxum wines), and Catapult.

Had at 54 Mint in San Francisco. Loved it! — 8 years ago
Clear rich Crimson in colour. Whiff of wood varnish which blew off. Spicy - not as much pepper as usual. Cherries and supple savoury tannins. Medium bodied. One of my favourite Aussie Reds in the $20 to $30 category. 2nd ranked cuvée to their much vaunted "Langi" Shiraz. Tasted again 54 weeks later with totally consistent notes. Tasted beside Salo Syrah, from the much vaunted Hawkes Bay NZ District for Syrah. I preferred the Langhi. — 9 years ago
Excellent rich Shiraz. Fruity nose, soft tannins. — 10 years ago
54%merlot, 34%cab, 12%cab Sauvignon long finish, fruity, smoooooth, very fine tannins, chocolate, dark cherry, spice, cigar tobacco, savory! — 10 years ago
One of the best "Bordeaux" I have had so far lately, a classic vintage but a brilliant wine with much character and personality, 54% Cabernet Franc and 46% Merlot, it is all about purity and richness without being arrogant - full bodied it starts to drink well - but take time to let it evolve and enjoy 😃 — 11 years ago
A delicious and affordable pomerol, very well balanced and drinkable on first pour. Its nose captures hints at it's early homes (farm & cask). Goes super well with mushrooms served up in a scallop broth @ Bin 54, in Chapel Hill, which is a favorite of mine and a rather perfect steak house not to be missed! Cheers — 13 years ago

54% Grenache 38% Mourvèdre 8% Syrah. Purple red, medium extracted. Light Brett and blue fruit in nose, later, strawberry and mint notes emerge. Strawberry and cherry flavors, medium tannins and astringency initially, a tad hot? Eucalyptus aftertaste. Allow one hour to open. Overall, a surprising expression of these two to three-ish varietals. — 8 years ago
Remarkably brilliant ruby color, Smokey nose of dark fruits and leather, rich smooth almost juicy flavors of red and dark fruit - simply amazing for a 54 year old wine. — 8 years ago
Dark with lots of aroma. Smells like spiced plums with hints of tobacco and black tea. Taste of dark chocolate and Courant
54% Cabarnet and 46% Merlot — 9 years ago
Had it at Yacchaba with Del. $54 for 750ml bottle. It was good. — 9 years ago
2010 vintage. Aged 54 months in oak which explains the medium golden colour for a wine so young. In Bistro de l'Hotel, Beaune. More of a Chassagne mineral tight nose, than a Meursault nose. Honey and sea shells, ripe lemon pieces and stone fruit. On the palate, high acidity, medium body and alcohol, medium concentration and medium plus finish. Quite elegant. Drink now until 2026+. — 10 years ago
As I opened a bottle of their 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, aged for 18 months in French oak (54% new), I see a deep ruby red with focused aromas of black fruit and complex spice. The palate shows focused sweet ripe dark fruit, black currants and black raspberry, with savory oak, leather and cacao. The wine is well balanced, nicely developed round tannins, great structure for getting better in a few years. This is an approachable wine, perfect to drink now as well as for future aging, but why wait? — 10 years ago
Amazing classic cab! Still enjoying Bin 54..🌀 — 11 years ago
Dark fruit balanced through old oak showing light spice on the nose encouraging thought to nail a specific note but is remaining a bit of an enigma in my rock rattled head after a good day enhanced by 75 MPH Harley induced wind and the brilliance of Bose and an iPhone. Ok, back to the wine, it touches, lightly grabs spreading its dark berry mini-burst in a layered earth touched tannin slow ride making magic with some of Chapel Hill's Bin 54's straight up amazing goodness (in this case very rare filet mignon, garlic tinged green beans and almond slivers; my go to steak spot in NC). Damn, this is all so right-on! Cheers! — 11 years ago
