09' Morlet Passionnement It's a blend from To Kalon, Missouri Hopper & Knights valley.
Don't know what to think about my 09's from Napa Valley. Love them! Not in love with them. Awkward drinking stage?
Nose- Blackberry, cassis. Palate-Black cherry, tobacco, mint & bitter chocolate on the mid palate. This 100% cab is slightly hollow. Drinking with nice length and complexity. I'm guessing the front of the palate should catch up to the back? Hold.
Good bottle of wine. If you can find the 2008... recommend highly.

2012 is a far cry from the 2005 and earlier. Short finish. Acidity slightly imbalanced. Will mellow well if laid down & structure will support this. — 9 years ago
In a great place but probably just past its peak and in descent...catch it while you can if you have it. Fresh flowers, red and blue fruits, spice and game on the nose. The deep red and blue fruits balls up intensely on the front of the palate and dissipates slightly on the finish. The tannin structure is fine and totally resolved, with unmistakable Italian acidity. #felsina #chianticlassic #tuscany — 9 years ago
Really amazing premier cry champagne. Lovely notes of toast and baked apples. Absolutely delicious! — 10 years ago
A ton of oak as expected! Very young! Vanilla liqueur soaked plums, cedar, nutmeg. Med-heavy mouthfeel with a grill full of fruit tannins. Spain makes you cry uncle, and then breaks out the wooden paddle to whip your ass! How much wood can this Mofo chuck?!! Bring your best Paul Bunyan, and his big blue ox! Two paths converged in a wood...really puts a bit of stick about!! The wood references should go on ad infinitum here. Needs time, and a further update! Nice vanilla note throughout, black cherry, and a dry earthy slope taking shape and deconstructing under the weight of the oaken yoke! #spanishwine #HaciendaMonesteria — 10 years ago

This was the wine of the tasting and weekend. It’s in a perfect place right now. Beautifully integrated, amazing fruits with a lean toward blue fruit with dark cherries, baking spices as they should be in all Napa red...soft, balanced blends and perfectly layered. Bright, beautiful dark florals, nicely balanced, great texture and long beautiful finish. Great experience hosted by my fellow Sommelier and friend, Brian Baker. Thank you for a great day tasting. As well, great to catch up. Lokoya’s new facility is amazing. Pictures don’t do it justice. — 7 years ago
We brought this bottle up from the cellar and pulled the cork about two hours before dinner simply to let it catch its breath and come up to temperature. In the glass, a very deep crimson robe. Notes of cherry pie, burned toast, a touch of wild game...a bit hot though too and I found that to be a bit distracting. On the palate, dark cherries and plums...just a hint of spice but pretty simple really. Very soft mouthfeel. Tannins have integrated and acid is low-ish so I can't imagine any reason to hold out in hopes of more. Set your expectations, if you have any, to "moderate" and drink now. — 8 years ago
Chateau Musar 2004 Bekaa Valley Rouge (SRP $53): Pale-medium garnet in color, this medium-bodied wine leads with tart red berry fruit, dried cranberries and earthy flavors framed by notes of worn leather, sweet tobacco leaf, forest floor, dried flowers, and fennel seed. It opens nicely over time and ends with more earthy/funky qualities than the red fruit you catch up-front. Well-balanced, a generous underpinning of fresh acidity supports a sleek yet age-worthy frame. There is this savory complexity combined with pretty aspects and a funky core that I like in this wine.

The best part of waking up is Altenberg in your cup! Holy shit this wine is intense. It'll be too much for some, but for those who can handle it, there's unrivaled concentration. Like a massive, billowing golden sail ready to catch the wind and carry you to wherever you'd like to be. Heartening on this cold New York morning. — 10 years ago
Incredible wine with some incredible food and friends. Maybe my favorite stop of all.... Playing catch up... Too much wine and not enough time. — 10 years ago
Second tasting . Matt my close friend from Sydney brought a bottle for our recent catch up lunch but we diverted to Bordeaux . Drank with Peter at barbie instead. We liked it . Watery, mild and delicate . Bought a case . Makes me feel like this might be what hibiscus nectar and rain tastes like . Lots of rain . Maybe a little too much rain . — 11 years ago

Found this little gem for only $61 at p prime catch on boynton. Perfectly cellared and drinking quite nice. Just heading over peak drinking window. — 10 years ago
The second domestic Super Tuscan I tried this week. The first being David Arthur's Meritaggio. Hands down this is the choice. Also, typically my favorite release from Long Shadows each year. Sangiovese blend with Cabernet and Syrah. Dark, smokey with rich fruit and fine tannins. I'd let this one cellar a bit longer to catch its peak. Look at 2017 and beyond to allow it to really shine. — 10 years ago
