Castell'in Villa's 2015 Chianti Classico is a gorgeous wine that will delight readers who enjoy the Chianti Classicos of this reference-point estate in Castelnuovo Berardenga. Crushed flowers, mint, licorice, dried herbs, cedar and tobacco give the 2015 lovely aromatic complexity. The 2015 is perhaps a bit more open than young wines tend to be here, but then again, 2015 is a warm vintage that generally yielded accessible Chianti Classicos. All that means is that the 2015 can be enjoyed with less cellaring than is the norm here. As it so often is, the Castell'in Villa Chianti Classico is a wine of real pedigree and distinction. Not my favorite C. Berardenga producer — 7 years ago
Tasted January 2013
A “young Brunello” produced from vineyards at 200 to 450 m asl with poor marl soil close to Castelnuovo dell’Abate. Fermentation by indigenous yeasts, long maceration, ageing 24 months in oak and 6 months in bottle.
100% Sangiovese.
Brilliant ruby red.
Intense and clean aromas. Excellent correspondence of taste to nose, outstanding freshness but also elegance and persistence.
Goes well with roasted game and aged cheese. — 9 years ago

Heart of Tuscany. 97% Sangiovese, 3% Canaiolo. Castelnuovo Berardenga. Indigenous yeast, cement and steel vats, no filtration/clarification, no sulfates added, 13500 bottles produced, organic farming. 13th century cellars. Barnyard, truffle, plum, strawberry, funky! East-west facing vineyards. Clay-sand. — 6 years ago
Nice Italian bubble - better than the middle of the road Prosecco found in restaurants. Easy drinking! — 6 years ago
