2017 Castello di Ama L’Apparita was the wine that I pulled for the evening. Italian Merlot. Ama is an old, fortified village situated near Radda and Gaiole in the heart of the Chianti Classico region. On the nose, intense dark berries. A full bodied wine with layers of beautiful ripe fruit. Perfect balance. Stellar finish. Stunning. — 2 years ago

Whoa now, '86 Nebbiolo drinking better than most Barolo of this age! — 10 years ago
Pretty good but not quite as good as the Fioretti. — 10 years ago
A real treat to see a 34 year old Italian beauty. Dried herb and fruit. Earthy, dark dried fruits. Soft soft tannin with rounded acid. Lost its vibrancy and that bang that sucks you in. Admirable it has held up and a beautiful experience. 89 points. — 11 years ago
Too young but insane potential...going to buy more. Love this wine and its depth and complexity. Paired well with venison. — 7 months ago

Very nice, full flavored wine with a smooth finish. Smoky, spices and delicious!! — 10 years ago
Light strawberry and leather, aged to a lower palate density but aromatically powerful, lovely wine. Lovely with three grain risotto and grilled asparagus, just perfect. — 12 years ago
Still drinking, wonderfully after 12 years. A fine example of this variety from Italy. — 2 years ago

One of the best Chianti — 8 years ago
Light body and very "Pinot Noir" like. Bright red cherry and strawberry flavors. Mild tannins and light oak. Hint of smoke. Refreshing. Chill it a bit below cellar temp. Great story about the winery. A Mt. Etna lava flow just went around them 30 years ago. — 9 years ago
Very smooth for a chianti, full bodied and drinking nice with a steak. — 10 years ago
Soooo delicious. I'm speechless. — 10 years ago

Ruby in color with aromas of ripe cherry, raspberry, vanilla, and earthy hints. Decanting softens the smoky notes, revealing bright red fruit and a touch of licorice. The palate is dry and well-balanced, with smooth tannins, refreshing acidity, and a long, fruity finish. A versatile, well-structured wine that pairs easily with food.
