Clear, medium ruby in color; on the nose, it's clean with pronounced primary and secondary aromas of cherries, hibiscus, and charred oak; on the palate, it's dry with medium acidity, medium tannins, high (but well integrated) alcohol, medium body, and pronounced primary flavors of stewed strawberries, black plums, and camphor with a long finish. This wine is balanced and complex. Overall, I rate this wine as very good. Nellie likes it, too. — 7 months ago
Decent for restaurant wine. Had in the MDR on MSC Seashore. — 9 months ago
Really nice wine
— 5 years ago
Refreshing red, almost moscato like. I would not drink it with dinner, but a dessert or just plain old sipping wine would do. We had it with dark chocolate cake and it paired. — 6 years ago
This is an exceptional Sauvignon Blanc. It is a cool climate wine, more similar to a Sancerre than a new world SB. It knocked my socks off. — 7 years ago
This was staff pick at Bacon's in Hudson. Dry, in a good way. Very good. — 9 years ago

Black licorice, currant and earthy notes. 2012 vintage holding up well. — 6 months ago
This wine lives up to its name. Big, rich wine. Delightfully compliments and enhances food spices. Enjoyed with roasted duck with pomegranate and Turkish spice glaze. — 7 months ago
Serious and solid barrel Chardonnay. Aroma: ripe apples, vanilla, butter, toast, hay, lightly citrus. Long aftertaste: oak and smoky notes. Soft oak tannins are present.
Very nice. — 5 years ago

Casa Madero – Cabernet Sauvignon / 2021
Valle de Parras – Coahuila, Mexico 🇲🇽
Overview
Casa Madero, founded in 1597, is officially recognized as the oldest winery in the Americas. This bottling is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the high-altitude vineyards (about 1,500m/5,000 ft) of Valle de Parras in northern Mexico. The unique terroir offers warm days, cool nights, and excellent diurnal variation, giving structure and freshness to the fruit.
Aromas & Flavors
Vibrant red and black fruit lead the way, ripe cherries, cassis, and blackberry, layered with subtle notes of vanilla, baking spices, and a touch of green bell pepper that reflects the grape’s varietal character.
Mouthfeel
Medium to full-bodied with persistent tannins that are firm yet approachable. The structure carries the wine steadily, offering depth and a lingering, elegant finish without overbearing weight.
Food Pairings
Perfect with grilled ribeye steak, slow-cooked barbacoa tacos, or roasted lamb with rosemary. It also works beautifully with aged cheeses like Manchego or Cotija, highlighting the wine’s balance of fruit and tannin.
Verdict
A deliciously polished Cabernet from one of the New World’s oldest and most storied wineries. Casa Madero captures both history and modern winemaking finesse, resulting in a wine that’s as educational as it is enjoyable.
Did You Know?
Casa Madero was founded by decree of King Philip II of Spain, making it the first winery in the entire Americas. Their manuscripts, still kept in archives, are so central to their history that excerpts appear on the label itself. — 7 months ago

The 2016 vintage in Toscano created wines that are right up my alley and this bottle from Chianti Classico by Casa Emma was no exception. Abundant cherries, dried herbs, black tea, and dusty earth. So fresh and energetic! At this stage, the wine is quite tannic…super duper dry, and the finish is as long as the day. Obviously best with food but not necessary given the abundant character and generosity. What a beautiful Chianti Classico and a just a gorgeous wine in general. QPR is out of this world. — 5 years ago
