Pale to mid Lemon in colour. Funky leesy struck match sulphidic notes together with grapefruit, white peach. Barrel ferment characters with lees stirring I would guess. Slightly “worked”. A light to medium weight palate showing grapefruit and mild stone fruit notes. Some good winemaking on show here from an excellent winemaker in Tom Carson. Serrat is the personal venture of Tom and his French wife, Nadege. His main job is chief winemaker for the highly credentialed Mornington Peninsula winery, Yabby Lake. — 6 years ago

Carson kitchen. So good. Jammy zingy and light — 8 years ago
Mid Lemon in colour. Funky leesy notes with mineral and a touch of butterscotch. Previous sulphidic notes have diminished somewhat. A lot of winemaking on show here - this wine has been “worked “, but all to the good. The palate shows Lemon butter with under ripe stone fruit. Some creaminess from the oak and the winemaking. Medium plus intensity. Holding up easily - impressive at 10 years of age. Burgundian traits. Another very good wine from Tom Carson who is also in demand at Wine Shows for his excellent palate. — 6 years ago
Made by Tom Carson of Yabby Lake fame in the Mornington Peninsula. Tom is also a respected Show Judge in demand around Australia. Serrat is his personal label with French wife, Nadege. They also import a range of Burgundies. “Fourre Tout”- the English translation meaning “Catch All”. This is a field blend of Barbera, Malbec, Grenache, Pinot Noir and Nebbiolo. Mid Ruby in colour. Plummy aromas with black and red fruits. Strangely can see the spicy Malbec on the nose more than the other varieties. I was expecting this to be a more frivolous red than it turned out to be. This had good structure and tannins - would benefit from a few years in the cellar. Went well with Chicken Pie. Footnote: Serrat is a Catalan word meaning High Density Planting. Serrat has 8000 vines per Hectare producing less than a bottle per vine. Next in a few years. — 6 years ago
My favorite growers to celebrate the birthday. The perfect Amuse-Bouche for the upcoming summit. @Kyle Harvey @Scott Petrus and @Carson in spirit! — 9 years ago
Loved this pinot. So rich and smelled amazing — 9 years ago
Juicy red. I need to start describing the wines before drinking the whole bottle and taking a photo 3 days later. Thanks Carson at Lorne Wine!! — 5 years ago
This bad boy was like a versatile NFL running back - weighty up front but surprisingly light and dynamic on its feet, and the moves for a lingering finish - the Elroy Carson type @Scott Petrus - oh yeah it’s 100% Grolleau from two Japanese wine makers in the Loire. — 6 years ago
Excellent! Clean finish - great flavor. — 6 years ago
...to the "pros", as Carson used to say to Ed... "Don't try that with me Bozo"...this is another great Mueller Pinot, Russian River. 2016 was a good year for August Recher, another single vineyard. Great nose balance legs fruit fruit mouthful succulent palate rich...typical of the better (but still not best) Mueller's. — 7 years ago
Ripe red fruit on the #schnoz. Molasses taffy. Paired perfectly with the season 5 finale of Downton Abbey. Cheers Mr Carson — 9 years ago

Mid Ruby in colour. Red fruits of cherry and strawberry with a bit of whole bunch influence on the nose. The palate showing savoury red fruits but also a little sweetness. Certainly a good future in front of it - I should try the next one in 1 to 2 years time. Tom Carson has probably never made a bad wine in his life and he has a great terroir to work with when he is not in demand for judging at Royal Shows. Tasted another bottle 65 weeks later on 24th July 2022. Quite red cherry on the nose and palate. Sooty notes from whole bunch in the ferment. The perfect balance between sweet and savoury. — 5 years ago
