Elqui Valley Carménère Blend 2017

Medium ruby color; black cherries, plums, and black pepper on the nose; high acidity; medium tannins; tastes like tart cherries, slate, and a hint of chocolate with a long finish. After a good decant, it smells like oak and cherries and tastes about the same. Nellie doesn't like it. It's too smoky for her. I like it, but there is something a little bitter in the after taste in not a fan of. With more time in the glass it really improved. I'm increasing the score i gave it. — 8 months ago

Milla Cala Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2019

Ming L
9.1

Lovely Cab leading blend with a healthy dose of Carménère. Gentle nose of ripe plum, black currant, dark chocolate, autumn leaves, and touch of green pepper. Eloquent medium body with round acidity and fine grained tannins.
Ready to drink, but should benefit from 5 years or so bottle age.

Carmenere 2018

The nose on this wine is incredible with lots of dark, ripe black fruits, leather, and black tea leaves. Dark and milk chocolate are also both present. Lots going on and this will continue to age well. We’re going to pair this with venison strip loin! — 5 months ago

Bradisismo Veneto Rosso Red Blend 2018

Very smooth and approachable as soon as the bottle was opened. Tobacco and deep red fruit. Quite meaty. Some smoky touches. Well structured, and lasts well on the palate. Slight bitterness in aftertaste. — 2 years ago

Viña Ventisquero

Grey [Glacier] Single Block Trinidad Vineyard Carménère 2017

This is a beautiful Carménère, all earthy and full of savory minerality. The blackberry and black plum aromas creep through the smell of that dirt with tar, forest floor and tobacco all over them. A hint of vanilla sweetens the sniff a bit. On the palate, the dark fruit is draped in sweet oak spice, and you’ll find a bucketful of tannins until the glass has been sitting for awhile. This is a steak wine, intended for a big, juicy piece of beef. — 4 years ago

Gran Reserva Valle del Maipo Carménère 2015

Dark ruby red color. Strong smells of fresh pepper, salsa, pomegranate, and smoke. Pretty healthy tannins with tastes of cherries, plums, minerals, bell peppers, cigar box, and vanilla. Will be pairing with a bowl of chicken chili in an effort to compliment but not overwhelm the peppers. — 4 years ago
