Was pretty unimpressed upon opening, but really came to life in an unexpected way the next day. Fresh leather, spiced cherry, star anise, sweet dirt, cedarwood, truffle, black licorice candy. Rich and long on the palate, with a bit of jamminess- from the Syrah undoubtedly. — 8 years ago
Exceptionally rich yet nervy, Lohsa 2013 Morellino di Scansano is certainly cut along the local Sangiovese lines of this DOCG but this is cut of a finer woolen and fragrant cloth true to the Poliziano house whose handsome strength comes through in savory spiced cherries and al dente tannins. A wine to serve with wild boar or crispy duck. — 8 years ago

Earthy, spiced and delicately toasty oak influence. Plummy, liqurice, dark cherry and spicy/toasty oak influence. Firm youthfull tannins and fresh acidity supporting balnced structure. +15 years, 90p — 10 years ago

Morellino is the local name for the Sangiovese varietal. Deep garnet red with a pink rim. Cherry, raspberries, medium spice, good fruit. Medium body. Paired with pasta in light flavorful tomato sauce. Tasted at Poggio Amorelli Winery in Chianti — 8 years ago
Yummy! Bright fruit and just a touch of dryness. Benefits from decanting. — 8 years ago

Beautiful violet color. Subtle earthy aroma. Medium acidity. Dry. Floral. Mineral. Medium body. Light tannin. But this wine is not all that light. There is a certain body to it coming from Tuscany, I suppose. Elegant wine, it is. — 9 years ago

A great Morellino...which can be so hit or miss. Mostly miss in my experience. This one is delightful with good tannins and dry fruit. — 10 years ago
Nice berry aroma with a lot of flavor. Smooth taste without a dry finish. I tend to favor dry wines but this is very tasty — 11 years ago
Had this at Max's wine dive with clients. Super good! — 8 years ago
Excellent well made Sangiovese. Dark fruit and a hint of leather on the nose. Pleasant fruit with a hint of aged fruit on the palate. Nice mouth drying high tannins and typical high acidity. A hint of delicious sour sweetness that reminds me of Chateau Musar. Blend: 85% Sangiovese and 15% Merlot. 13% abv — 8 years ago

Sangiovese and Merlot. Tasted the 2012 at the winery which was too young and overpowered with oak. 2008 is nicely balanced, good fruit and lovely cherry aromas. — 10 years ago
Juicy, spice, cherry and licorice on the palate. Low tannins and hardly any oak. So damn good. Do it. — 10 years ago
