Burning Kiln

Enz Vineyard Zinfandel 2009

Fairly spicy. Good fruit but not overwhelming. Pretty good balance, but still on the fruity side. Slightly light on the body. — 10 years ago

Redbreast Aged 12 Years Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey

Lemon pie and orange blossoms with lemon poppy madeleines lingering in the stratosphere. Banana bread and cedar shavings. The bourbon barrel screams from the glass. Hazelnut and pecan turn creamy vanilla pudding, pine nut, grass clippings and charred bits, with a satisfying carbon and graphite in a lemon pith middle burning a hot streak. — 10 years ago

The Archer Red Blend

If you make it to Arizona, make sure you stop by burning tree. By far my favorite winery in cottonwood, az. The 45-70 bones you spend on a bottle is well worth it. Acidic but well balanced. — 11 years ago

Château Puech-Haut

La Closerie du Pic Syrah Blend 2014

If you were down to your last $30, my recommendation would be to buy and drink this wine. Well, first you should ask if the 2013 is available, but you could have worse problems than having to settle for the 2014, like only having $30, but I digress. Opens with same familiar voice: burning incense, lavender, and dark bramble fruit. Noticing a more pungent earth and wet stone nuance than the last bottle. Explosive, ripe black raspberry fruit on the palate is tempered by the bitter cocoa and sea salt. There's some captivating secondary fig or truffle there, but I can't quite put my finger on it. Inspiring. — 10 years ago

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

A true Left bank. Medium dry, good tannins to cut though a hearty meal. A bit thin and burning alcohol taste at first but opens up nicely to show more depth. Earthy, pencil led, cigar box, light barn yard. — 10 years ago
