Domaine Jean Chartron established in 1859 owns 13 hectares of vineyards - 16 appellations - 9 of which being in Puligny-Montrachet. The soil is a mixture of clay siliceous sand and lime components. 40 years the average age of the vines. Hand harvesting, neither herbicides, nor chemical pesticides are used in the vineyards. Behind the alchemical balance of the wine aging (élevage) in the woods, at the source of the new oak barrels there's always Allier and Vosges.
Even though 2011 in Burgundy's one of the most premature vintage in 300 years, I must admit that this bottle of the monopole Clos de la Pucelle was astonishingly crisp, persisten texture, a solid core of broom in bloom blowing up in your mouth, a shiny flow of mineral essence. Sourness and honey they were so well blended to spread the unity of opposites all over the go-between glass among you the others around and the wine.. though one bottle was a too much little thing! http://www.bourgogne-chartron.com/ — 10 years ago
The nose made me smile. This wine is floral reminds me of a spring day when all of flowers are in bloom and the sky is filled with wonder. I enjoy Torrentes but this one has to be one of my favorites until I taste another that evokes the same sensation. — 10 years ago
Really sour, clean, citrusy, and the kiwi really comes through. Tart and refreshing — 11 years ago
Very light in color. Faint aroma of linden trees in bloom and pear. Bracing acidity and some minerality. Tingles through the finish. Makes a clean getaway. 2013 — 11 years ago

This 34 was bit worrisome as level was mid-low shoulder and cork was tad crumbling. But the wine sang LATOUR out of the bottle like Genie out of the bottle and then he escaped rather quickly as the wine's bloom did not last. Still sweet in the core with wet leather, spiced nuts kind of notes...still a wonder of a wine. Sediment was heavy! — 10 years ago
Just gorgeous. 5th we've opened from the case. Starting to bloom beautifully. Bright red cherries, black berries, tobacco, a touch of leather. Wonderful compliment to a gorgeous Wagyu ribeye — 10 years ago

Nowhere near Ragnaud-Sabourin special 30, but very good bloom finish. — 11 years ago
Purdy straw gold color. The nose feels like an old friend: Baked apple/pear pie, with co-elements of lychee and sterling mineral. This French white is easy and just a touch oily on the palate, with solid unripe acid balancing out the sweeter baked nose. Good bloom of flavors and mouthfeel with each sip, following the nose. Finish is delightfully mineral, developing into unripe green apple and a touch of pineapple. Not very long or sexy--the only weakness. Perfect for food though. And for $10, I'd drink this wine every friggin day. — 10 years ago
Very fruity. Slightly jammy. Delicious on its own. A bit tart but well rounded. transparent oakyness. Will probably buy again. — 10 years ago
Reqlly bold coming out, black pepper with cocoa, oak on the underside and finishes with a large berry bloom — 10 years ago
Yeah, that didn't suck. 2008 drinking really well. Beautiful and powerful in the mouth. Lots of soy and cranberry in the mouth. I thought it would be much more green given the vintage but it was ripe and round and not herbal in the least. It was a great bottle and in its seventh year it was in full bloom. — 10 years ago

Mid ruby, smooth ripe blackberries, dry, fine tannins. Creamy, spicy warm dark red fruity berries, smooth rounded flavours with a long finish.
A good wine that celebrates and indeed supports the conservation of the rata trees, whose bloom features on the label. — 11 years ago
Totally quaffable. Sweet and playful. — 11 years ago

Really in a good place right now. Marzapan, hazelnuts, lemon cream and bloom rind with a hint of smoke. — 10 years ago
