I expected to like the Romanee-St. Vivant better but this was the winner among the two for me. Impossibly rich, elegant and mouth-filling. — 9 years ago

Beautiful light reddish ruby color. Dancing in the glass. Medicinal nose with Asian spice and tiny red berry fruit. Very Vosne in the mouth with palate coating acidity. Finish lasts and lasts. Will improve but hard not to drink now. — 10 years ago

Romanée St. Vivant Grand Cru Pinot Noir 1979

Truly incredible experience, sharing this with my folks to celebrate my PhD. Amazing nose, unlike any other old wine I've tried. High notes of dried fruits, mulberry, Apple, and low notes of balsa wood, and a long finish. Tannins mostly gone, but acid still holding it together. Exceptionally balanced and very delicious. — 9 years ago

Yes to all of the above. It started with a bright high note (B flat…) and continued through to a long deep finish. Truly amazing. We hand-carried this back from Burgundy in 1985. And there it lay, waiting for an appropriate celebration.

Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru Pinot Noir 1999

1999 vintage comparison of two producers. All had the complexity of the year and region. One corked Drouhin (CdV) and one corked Taupenot-Merme (MSD). But back-ups were available.

Stars included the T-M Chambolle Musigny and Charmes Chambertin with great balance and wonderful forest aromas, and the Drouhin Clos de Vougeot and Charmes Chambertin with growing richness and a touch of saline.

Some had only a brief arc of balance, but the GC's were pleasing throughout the evening.

Vivant Micault Pinot Noir 2014

Vivant Micault 2014 - From the oldest vines in the clos, there’s black tea ahead of rustic minerals on the nose. A gentle structure is carried forward on the palate by an even stronger note of tea. It’s a great pairing with shrimp tempura. — 8 years ago

Harry, Domaine Dujac's RSV holding is actually owned by Dr. Wilf Jaeger, and Dujac farms, vinifies, raises, & bottles under the Domaine. Interesting if same parcel.

Interesting. I'm reading 'Pearl of the Cote' right now. If I understand correctly. Part of Moillard RSV was sold to Arnoux and Cathiard in 1984. Which Cathiard then sold part back to Moillard. Then there is the 2005 sale which splits up the Moillard (Charles Thomas) purchase between de Montille and Dujac (Jaeger leaseback).
