Surprisingly good- 13.9% but feels a little hotter. The tannins are noticeable but not too bold. This is classic California cabernet, but time has allowed it to become more integrated and balanced- notes of ripe dark fruits, boysenberry, cassis, plum, cedar, violets, cedar box, and unfortunately a touch of "steminess". Not a fantastic wine, but a really solid domestic classic, which went great with our beef filets and creamed kale. — 11 years ago
Talk about dropping in to your local smoothie shop. Raspberry, Boysenberry, Plum, Cranberry not to mention the amazing bouquet to your nose. If you don't love this there is something wrong with you!!!! — 11 years ago
Wonderful expression of 2012. Big bold wine with loads of fruit but balanced and layers of texture with a long long smooth finish. Think Boysenberry. — 11 years ago
Massive intensity of aromas ; sour raspberry, bubblegum, boysenberry and the tiniest bit earthy. Full of acid and medium tannin. Full bodied, an forever changing in the glass. Ripe cherry, cherry liquer, oak, truffle and violet come through in a delicious palate. — 11 years ago

A great offering from Adam Tolmach, this 2005 is drinking beautifully. A great balance between primary and secondary aromas, the nose comes across with layers of violet, spice, and boysenberry. The palate is medium-plus bodied and has the terrific acidity characteristic of Adam's wines. I always like to give his wines a few years in bottle to integrate: for this Melville Vineyard offering, 10 years was just about perfect! — 10 years ago
