Francis Boulard's Millesimé Extra Brut 2006 is a blend of 50% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir, and 20% Pinot Meunier. The grapes are sourced from biodynamically farmed vineyards and are fermented with indigenous yeast. Sur lie aging with regular bâtonnage lends texture and a pleasant creaminess to the palate. The nose is nuanced with subtle floral overtones, water biscuits and marzipan. The mousse, too is equally fine and soft...the stand-out here is the minerality, and a suave saline finish that lingers. — 10 years ago
13 Morgon : well this is just flat out delicious. hardly any surprise that from the exceptional 2013 vintage, Daniel Bullard has crafted an outstanding Morgon . A joy to the eye w its mid wt red w a hint of violet ; the palate perfectly echoes the nose of crushed small red berry fruits with lovely crunchy acidity, medium intense middle palate. Perfumed with ripe yellow pear and apple notes, lemon, grilled apricots, apple and acacia blossoms, lees. Zesty, mineral, and very saline on the palate. Upfront and distinguished with its almost sponti funkiness and energetic texture. Stage 4 #tourdefrance leaves Champagne heading toward Alsace. This was interesting. Yeast nose with a grassy note. Complex with a bit of green flavors and some funk among the citrus fruit. A very complex blanc. Not sure my favorite but interesting. — 6 years ago
