A little bit sweet up front with a mellow finish. Surprisingly food friendly (paired with chicken sausage and broccoli rabe pasta) but also delicious by itself. — 7 years ago

— 7 years ago
Easy drinking. A little spice on the end, and moderately tannic. Liked it! — 7 years ago
Like Vino Verde without bubbles. Crisp, refreshing, light, citrus, grapefruit, peaches, lemon. Opens well with a dry finish. Wonderful perfume. Great easy drinker. — 8 years ago

1860 Palo Cortado, Privilegio from Hidalgo, bottle no. 229, 20% Abv. The King of rare, expensive sherries. Medium mahogany hue. Ridiculous complexity on the nose: salt, anchovy, Xmas cake, walnut, wood polish, caramel and vanilla essence. On the palate, medium body, huge acidity and persistence of flavour, extremely long, while elegant and graceful. Not quite as good as a previous faultless 100 point bottle I enjoyed in Sevilla. But stunning nonetheless. — 9 years ago

A nicely aged Spanish Red from Ribera Del Duero.
Showing black and red fruits with earth notes, oak, vanilla, licorice, cloves, herbs, spices, dark chocolates and peppercorn.
Full bodied with medium acidity.
Long finish with firm tannins and tangy raspberries.
This 23 Year old is drinking very nicely now with a nice mouthfeel and good structure.
Needs a couple of hours to open up properly and show the tannins.
Nicely balanced with nice complexity. A great sipping wine.
I paired it with a cheese plate and crackers.
13% alcohol by volume.
92 points. — 6 years ago
Probably the first #riberadelduero I ever had back in 2000, I think. #boston peeps may remember this as a Central Dist. selection. This is what aged Tempranillo is all about. — 8 years ago
