Blue Jay Anderson Valley Pinot Noir 2014

Generally I pass on California Pinots, however this one is well worth the time — 8 years ago

Fable Mountain Vineyards

Night Sky Syrah Blend 2014

Excellent, bold new world take on a traditional CDR. Tobacco and raisins. Maybe cinnamon or cardamom. But more fruit forward with jammy dark berries. Tangy. — 8 years ago

Spottswoode

Family Estate Grown St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Big powerful and intense. Dark only purple from core to rim; explosive nose of ripe black and blue fruit with hints of smoke, coffee and cloves. Full bodied and concentrated with black currant and blubbery compote up front and roasted fig, toffee and caramel on the mid pallet. Finish is long, dense and with silky soft tannins. The acididy is off the charts but the ballance is amazing. Would love to revisit in 20 years!!! — 8 years ago

Blue Rock

Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Like Baby Blue the blueberry aromas jump right out of the glass. First glass, honestly didn't seem any better than the Baby Blue. One hour later with filet mignon the wine had opened up considerably and WOW! This is one to pair with a juicy steak🍷. — 9 years ago

Another great Classic Wine Happy Hour in the books! Always a treat to have a designated day each month where guys can pull out some unique bottles!

Thanks
@Will Adams for opening this! Gorgeous juice. A nod to how Caymus used to operate. Velvet like. Blue and blackberries, vanilla, cocoa, espresso.

This one won the award for "oldest wine drinking like the newest wine." Plus, with it being served in a N*I*C*E decanter, it made it that much better! Thank you Benjamin for bringing out that beast!

Hillside Select Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

This bottle is much better than the last one. Blue, red and black fruits along with a hint of floral notes. This wine is rich, with inky black currant & blueberry finish. — 8 years ago

Marchesi Antinori

Tignanello Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 2014

That's more like it. Tobacco, roasted meat juices, rosemary, mineral-rich earth. Less muscular than other vintages, however I seem to like this best of the recent five years or so. Solid pour from my friends at the Sky Club. — 8 years ago

@Eric S I totally get the whole situation of being locked in from a miles perspective. That said, I avoid American aka "The Greyhound of the skies" as much as I can. I have had such horrible service over the years from US Air I'm permanently scarred. If only I had enough bank, I'd get myself a NetJets card 🛩

I play both fields - delta and American. I need about 30K to get to be a million miler on American. Have just been stuck because American didn't fly out of my area until they merged with US Air.

I thought Greyhound of the sky was Allegient or southwest?

Château Lynch-Bages

Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2011

When you have to travel on a Sunday, and that Sunday happens to be Mother's Day, you're not exactly psyched. This little oasis in the Delta Sky Club afforded me the opportunity to smile. Not a bad pour, regardless of the price. Typical Lynch-Bages cigar tobacco and leather with some luscious and velvety black fruit. Finished a little flat, most likely due to being open for a while in the fancy automated pour gizmo. But still smiling! — 9 years ago

Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1988

Somm David T
9.1

It needed an hour decant to come around and blow off the barnyard funk. After that, elegance, ruby blue and red soft fruits; blueberries, bright cherries, fresh juicy strawberries, some cooked green bell early on that gradually faded, steeped tea, soft saddlewood & minerality, a touch of easy wet black earth, pebbles. The 88 has all the classic characteristics and elegant finish one comes to expect from Pichon Lalande. Not their best but pretty darn good on Christmas Eve into Christmas. Merry Christmas all!!! — 10 years ago

2011 vintage. Strawberry and stewed rhubarb on the nose, nicely balanced taste with pleasant minerality on the finish. Better then the 2009 or 2010 vintages which had a bit too much acidity, and drinking well right now. — 10 years ago
