Crushed berry, blackstrap licorice & pink peppercorn capture the nose as notes of freshly balanced dark cherry & mouth melting carpaccio lace the palate. What can I say? Gran Reserva Maipo Valley Petite Sirah 2010

Deep, glass-clinging red purple in the glass; bear black with dark magenta highlights in a drinking pour. Big, bosomy nose of cobblered blueberries and blackstrap molasses. Brooding yet fruit-forward palate and greying dark berries and some ash supported by medium, velvety tannins. This is a treat. Not too serious, but not frivolous at all. Enjoy on its own or with charred barbecue meats by 2017. — 11 years ago

Glad we waited until 2018 to open this 2010. Probably should have waited another 5 yrs or so. Sweet elagic tannins a bit overly pronounced, but just starting to integrate. For the coldest vintage we’ve had in the NW in decades, this shows ripe yet restrained character, chalky cocoa tannins, brambley black raspberry, cassis, blackstrap molasses, pipe tobacco, hint of anise. I can only imagine the hangtime for 14.8% abv in 2010, but it didn’t stick out and added to the structure. One of the best Sineann wines I’ve tasted. — 7 years ago

Such intense concentration for a wine of 17 years--opened w powerful dark fruit, blackstrap, and vanilla bean paste aromas. Over a few hours developed into some gamey leather, roasted coffee bean, dusty old cigar box, and shriveled red cherries and prunes. This one needs the whole evening to shine--don't waste your time or money if you're only gonna see the first act! — 10 years ago

Dark purple garnet in the glass. Nose of plum, molasses, and cocoa. Medium full body, medium tannins, medium acidity. Palate of juicy plum, cobbler crust, blackstrap molasses, hints, clove. Medium short finish. Still some time left, too. This is one of the eastern greats. Enjoyable as a "sipper" but especially with hearty foods. Another triumph by Anthony Vietri! — 8 years ago

Second bottle of '92 showing much better so bumping this up. Really struck by how much it tastes of the funky bouquet of blackstrap molasses. Also a bit of resiny texture.
