Slight Fruity with strong tannins would drink again — 4 months ago
Dark ruby hue. Aromas and flavors of blackberry, cassis, licorice, and plum. Plus body, plus tannins, plus acid. While strong, balanced, and elegant, it opens up with a soft, round palate. Exemplary Napa red. 68 Cab Sauv, 28 Merlot, 2 Cab Franc, 2 Petit Verdot. — 4 months ago
Holding up nicely. Lost some fruitiness but otherwise quite good. — 5 months ago

2017 Turkey Zinfandel from Howell Mountain. I called the color deep purple. First thing that hit me is very creamy nose… vanilla cream that fills some donuts (heavy malo?). Fresh blueberry… lots of berries, it’s a berry salad. Also dried prune/fig, some chocolate and baked spices. Solid wine! I need to drink more zin!! — 8 months ago
Dark purple in color with notes of dark spices, licorice and blackberry. Well integrated tannins and will definitely benefit from ageing. — 7 years ago

Purchased while visiting the winery Aug 2023. Enjoyed 2/4/2024. — 4 months ago
Really? Wow. At 26 years old, not only hanging in there… but highly enjoyable. The mustiness had to blow off for a while, and then it hit its stride. Some toasty fruit remains in front of a long finish. cheers to ending 2023. …. Still going. Finish still going…. Going… — 5 months ago
Classic Priorat notes of cocoa, cherries, and llicorella. Solid wine drinking nicely. — 5 months ago
1.5 hour decant(decent chunky sediment). A majestic deep purplish magenta color with a little bricking. Always have a soft spot for aged Cain Five and Chris's old school savory style(embrace a little brett!). On the nose: stunning nose of worn leather, funky wet earth, red fruit, touch of menthol, nutty. Taste: Restrained, silky, elegant, balanced wine with dusty earth, herbaceous, currants, plum, cedarwood, and peppery dark chocolate medium finish. YUM! Hitting its stride with time to go. — 7 months ago

Rich full body wine. It takes three days to breathe to have the full potential release.

Medium body, warm, chocolate/espresso — 3 months ago
Coffee rye with baked, black currants, dried blackberry, cherrywood, cedar, light pepper, potable, African violet, fig, sarsaparilla and thyme. Grippy, grainy tannins awash in tart black cherry, cinnamon and savory. Young and green with tight tart edges, but open just enough to appreciated the complexities. Underrated sleeper vintage that just might come together. Finish is obfuscated at this juncture. Espresso is my guess, though!

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish/ brick rim.
Beautiful nose of black fruits, cedar, chocolates, herbs, tobacco leaf and cola.
Full-bodied and elegant with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, mint, vanilla, spices, licorice, espresso, cola, light herbs, eucalyptus, light earth, tobacco leaf, dark chocolates and peppercorn.
Long finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.
This 20 year old Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley is drinking beautifully now. Showing a gorgeous nose, that I kept on smelling for a while.
Feels much younger than it actually is, complex and well balanced.
Good right out of the bottle with grippy tannins, and better after a couple of hours in the decanter.
Peaking now and good by itself or with food. Will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 years.
A gorgeous wine. I love these older Napa Bordeaux blends.
A blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc. Aged in new American oak barrels for 22 months. Unfiltered and unfined.
13.8% alcohol by volume.
94 points.

2011 vintage. Not the best vintage nor the longest-lived. Drinking pretty decently currently. Would I want to slide-tackle this in a decade? No. In the next 5 years? Yes. Plenty of love aboard the ship now. 2.28.24. — 3 months ago
