Chunky bistro wine. Goes down easy — 8 years ago
L'Express is a simple French bistro in Flatiron that is as uncomplicated as it is delightful. And it does corkage. I brought along this 2013 Lascombes. It wasn't much to speak of at first but throughout the meal the wine started to open up rather nicely. By the last glass this wine was as uncomplicated as it was delightful. — 8 years ago

Superb but very young. Has everything to become exceptional Montée. Even tastier at 45 euros a bottle at Parisian bistro. — 9 years ago

Classic Cab Franc character and phenolics. Bright acid, mineral-driven mouthfeel with expressive strawberry jam flavors. Smoky flint accents and plenty of cow pasture funk. Straight-forward glou-glou bistro wine with freshness and slight effervescence. — 8 years ago

This is a beautiful example of California Pinot Noir. It has soft, delicate aromas of purple flowers and strawberries with a surprisingly nuanced set of flavors on the palate. The mid-palate is firm and full of red fruits and subtle earthy flavors and mineral textures. It was the perfect accompaniment to French bistro cuisine. If only there was more of this lovely wine! — 11 years ago
Astringent but rich Cabernet Sauvignon, with cherries vanilla and tobacco, at 75 Chestnut, on Beacon Hill, Boston and Bistro du Midi, and with friends in Vermont. — 8 years ago

Haut-Bailly Dinner in SF with Veronique Sanders of Haut-Bailly.
The 2010 is an excellent vintage but, it is for the later part of your life or your children.
This is drinking beautifully with a 4 hour decant. The structure & tension are just starting to their softening stage. The length and balance are in the forget about it range and will just get better & better. Ripe, stunning fruits of; blackberries, dark cherries, black raspberries, plum & a touch of blue fruits. Moist clay & top soils, stones, mint, graphite, fresh tobacco, dark cola, anise to black licorice with stunning, withering floral bouquet. Acidity is perfect. The finish is everything you want in a Bordeaux.
Definitely a 99-100 point wine in 15 years plus.
Served with the Cheese Plate; Red Hawk, Hop Along & Roquefort. @Mathilde French Bistro
