Feather is 100% Cabernet. This is made in coordination with Randy Dunn. On the nose, dark, lightly spiced currants. Black oil, loamy soils, black licorice and fresh floral bouquet. On the palate, the mouthfeel is thick & rich. There's a good presence of wood shaving. Rich, ripe blackberries, dark cherries, candied black plum, plum, black raspberries, loamy soils, dark rich moist earth, leather, tobacco, spice-box, nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, vanilla, black licorice, violets and fresh red florals. Acidity is round and mouthwatering. The structure is big. The tension perfect as is the balance of fruit and earth. This is definitely a Parker wine. It's so easy to drink young, yet will cellar 10-15 years nicely. Photos of the tasting rooms hand blown glass lighting...lit up. Big fruit liqueur upon opening, settling into a lighter berry candy nose. Transforming flavors pull in many strong directions, but never last long enough to knock it out of round. Sweet and sour, earthy and floral. Opens up to an easy-drinking, versatile, pour-at-your-own-risk, pairing machine. With: brie, tarragon mustard, baguette, castelvetranos, and cured meats.
Edit: Finding chalk toward the end of the bottle... Also, sadness for not having another to open. — 8 years ago

Liked it. Not as big and bold as some might expect from a Napa Cab. Easy drinking and well balanced with or without food. Light ruby cherry color. — 11 years ago

Smooth and fruity red. Easy drinking! — 9 years ago
Really, really dark. All berries on the nose with a hint of coffee. It's got a nice, full body with tastes of vanilla, oak, and chocolate. I'm getting some raspberry and black cherries. It's very rich and of course, Big and Bold. Fruitbomb is the word to use. The finish is a bit too sweet for my tastes. Sometimes too much so but still pleasing. This wine was made to be mass-marketed and for easy drinking and it succeeds in that. — 9 years ago

Great wine. Easy drink, smooth, and being a blend, not as bold and caustic with high tannins like a big bold cabernet. Sweet and mellow finish. Totally enjoyable. — 9 years ago

Sipping Fine Wine
Celebrated 40th anniversary of Caymus in 2012, built by Charlie Wagner, Lorna Belle Glos Wagner and their son, Chuck. In 1975, they produced their first Special Selection Cab, which remains the only wine to have twice been named Wine Spectator's"Wine of the Year" (1984 and 1990 vintage). Sweet and rich, big ripe fruit, smoky oak, pepper spice with cacao and leather, super soft tannins, lingering on a well balanced finish ending with mineral notes. Wow!!! Easy drinking! Went well with USDA prime strip steak. — 7 years ago
