2022 vintage. One of the Castel family estates since 1973 ( before the estate was known as Domaine de Tartuguière). With 144 hectares of vines,this is the largest contiguous vineyard in the Médoc. Vanessa Trouy has been in charge since 2002. Dark red colour. Needs a bit of time to open up, give it 15 minutes to release attractive aromas of strawberries, flowers, nutmeg and oak. Good fruit concentration in the mouth, with a solid tannic structure,fresh acidity and nice length. This will need a few years to show all its potential, and has serious ageing potential. For now decanting is recommended, pair with a good steak. Another terrific Bordeaux value. — 8 months ago

Double Blind, hit this as 09/10 Peter Michael Belle Cote. These chards gave a distinctive acidic grapefruit twist to them that's very noticeable. Great nose of buttered popcorn after it opened up. Very nice. — 9 years ago

2007 vintage. Vieilles Vignes. Medium brick garnet hue. Herbal, white flower, white pepper, earthy and forest floor. Very attractive nose. On the palate, great balance of fruit and tannins - tight grain. Herbal character to the fore, black currant and slight mint. Good length. Old gold , orange rind colour , quite a lot of bubbles still . Quite mature nose with roasted walnuts , some herbal , porcini , coffee tinged notes , hints of red currant . On the palate this also shows quite a bit of age with roasted nuts , some lightly herbal notes , honey , balanced acidity . A little short and simple on the finish , hints of orange rind and dried rose . This needs to be drunk over the next few years , don’t see this improving . — 8 months ago
