CV tasting Crozes Hermitage 10/6/16. Very savory and meaty nose with hints of mints and earthiness and beacon. Balanced and acidic and minerals on palate with firm structure. Long complex finish. Yum. Best nose of the 4. Opened Donna visit 11/3/16. Still savory and delicious after argon spritz for 3 days. — 9 years ago
Maybe it was the spot (Tessa in NYC) maybe it was the company (my wife and buddies Kelly and Andy) or maybe it was being excited about seeing The Mavericks at the Beacon but by popular acclaim we loved this Umbrian. Good fruit forward with a hint of minerality but really long on first and second effects. So heck, we got three. Luckily the restaurant was next to the show and the Mav's delivered. — 9 years ago

Washington is great for Merlot. Seven Hills is known for being a beacon of sorts. They are generally the first to harvest. This is from their top Merlot blocks from the 37 year old vines in their estate vineyard. Seven Hills wines age like crazy and their Merlot based stuff calls more to the Right Bank in Bordeaux than the new world. Living in Washington, I think I view Seven Hills like listening to the Beatles or The Stones. Too much looking for the new thing & not listening enough to what one knows is great. This is great. — 8 years ago

less charmful than 2004 but a tuscan smell (sangiovese perfume) beacon. — 9 years ago
Meaty, spicy, complex leather, dried rose petal, spice box, Forrest floor, pine needle, mushrooms, seared beacon. Effortless flowing tannins glide and coat. Dry and delicate, persistent, elegant. Seems to capture that place between youthful and aged. Well along in age but not tired in the least. — 11 years ago
Beacon wines. Umbria.Green olives, hay, Earth, BlackBerry, plum and stewed fruit. Great value. $14. Sangiovese, Merlot, Barbera blend. — 11 years ago
The family-run Avinyó estate remains a beacon of artisan tradition for Cava wines, and their Brut Nature remains one of my favorites from their seamless portfolio. Resinous and leesy, the Xarello driven cuvée is rather giving for the Brut Nature category. Never thin or austere, the wine instead broadens on the palate to flavors of yellow apple, sawdust, pie crust, and mushroom. This is a Cava that can convert a Champagne diehard. — 7 years ago

A Bordeaux classic. Top black current fruit, with sweet cherry / smoked beacon / cigar box balance. A must for the serious drinker. European style! — 9 years ago

Very tasty wine! Nose of beacon and tomatoes (quite strange at first) after 4 days of airing but a superb taste which is quite undefinable. — 10 years ago
Within the California noise and conundrum this wine stands as a beacon of quality and authenticity. — 10 years ago
Good but not worth the price. It was recommended by sales guy at specs — 11 years ago
