The 2016 Blanc de Noirs Presle is an explosion of aromas, flavors and textures. A Champagne of tremendous aromatic intensity, the Presle screams with Pinot character, certainly more so than the earlier wines in this range. The Presle emerges from a tiny parcel of measuring 0.25 hectares planted with 10 different Pinot clones over 15 rows. It is beguiling, nuanced and so full of character. I love the energy here. Zero dosage. Disgorged: April, 2020. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, November 2020) — 4 years ago
Saw this in the Delectable thread the other day and realized I haven’t tried the -15s with food and a long decanting. In a nutshell, high quality, too young, as expected. Light ruby slight brick color; youth- and powerful nose of not tar&roses but sharper, like diesel exhaust & Tom Ford’s Rose Prick - an excellent mix; very high acids and tannins on the palate, dominated by unripe strawberries; finish is of medium length and quite chest-burning despite the indicated 13.5% alc. content. As 2015 was very hot in the summer, one might expect overripe grapes and lower acidity, but not in this beauty. A half-a-decade or more in the cellar should do wonders. — 5 years ago
It’s Friday, gotta kick it off with Champagne. This Friday a little N/V Ruinart Rosé.
The fruits are; ripe, ruby and slightly candied. Deeply extracted; strawberries, black cherries, some black raspberries, cherries, ripe, juicy, summertime watermelon, touch of pomegranate, blood orange, understated, fine, powdery chalkiness, powdery seashells, sea spray, grey volcanic minerals, soft white spice, hard baguette crust with red & pink roses. The gently crisp acidity is dead on. The long, rich, ruby, well balanced, polished finish is delicious and nicely persistent.

Great example of what a Champagne should be: balanced, yeast, pear, bitter almonds, and touch of minerality. — 8 years ago
Oh my heavens. I could wax poetic about Vietti all day. Violets and crushed purple roses jump out of the glass, followed by tart bramble fruits, high acid, and gripping tannins. Nebbiolos smell like the Deep South in summer: wisteria and hot asphalt. — 10 years ago
Clear burgundy color, acidic with notes of roses. Full bodies and notes of dark fruit on the finish — 12 years ago
Yesterday late afternoon I had the pleasure of tasting the 2016 Luciano Sandrone Le Vigne Barolo. At first taste I knew this was a special bottle of wine. All boxes were checked on the nose as well as the palate.
On the nose were fully expressive notes of black cherry, strawberry, herbs, clove, clay pottery, rose petals, underbrush, tar and dusty soil.
On the palate were delightful notes of dark cherries, strawberry, red plum, licorice, truffle, herbs, dried roses, a good mineral note and dusty earth.
An outstanding wine from the word go, full bodied, well balanced with a smooth round mouthfeel, medium + acidity and medium + to high fine mouth coating grippy tannins that leaves you with a long pronounced fresh fruit dusty earth finish. This wine still has a lot to offer years from now. What a pleasure to have experienced this. I hope everyone's weekend is going well? Have a continued wonderful weekend. Please stay safe and healthy. One of the smoothest, most flavorful whiskies I have tried. — 5 years ago
Really delicious Kermit Lynch selection! Loads of baked apple and peach cobbler...brioche and nutmeg! Creamy delicious yet zippy too!
Celebrating the return of my Daughter's car after it was stolen Monday! 🚘 Thank you Iowa City PD! 🚔 I was craving a bubbly so I have my justification! 😄 — 5 years ago
The nose was gorgeous, displaying sour cherry, plum, roses and violets, dusty spice, and hints of floral undergrowth. On the palate, I found soft, lifted textures with amazing purity to it’s ripe strawberry and cherry fruits, along with inner floral tones and hints of spice. The finish was long yet fresh with medium-grained fine tannin, dried strawberry and inner rose tones. This may not be a vintage to age for decades, it’s so beautiful already, the hard part will be saving them long enough to watch them mature. #collisioni17 — 8 years ago
Bottle variance! Last one was bit maderized but this one was showing much better. Soft mature ripe fruit of peaches, compote and bread yeast toast. Enjoyed it. — 8 years ago
Roses and cedar with a bit of cranberry. Love Vietti! — 8 years ago
Color of light and semi translucent burgundy with brown and light purple hue on the rim. Slow flowing dense legs. Plummy fragrance and cherry sweetness upon opening. After breathing, nose of this wine turns unique with cure meats, anise, roasted black pepper, plums, and baking soda. Taste of cure meat like prosciutto, balsamic vinegar, quite dried in the first sip, round but firm tannins, a touch of spice, with some fruity and sweet notes hidden on the 2nd wave. Aftertaste of roses, balsamic acidity, black tea, a bit spice, subtle alcohol, and medium finishing. This wine is one of the best in terms of providing meat flavors. It is light in this hot day, but fully structured. What a piece of work. — 9 years ago
Third rating for this: started at 10 degrees , and warmed up to around 15-18 in a warm 29 degrees tropical Singapore. Was fresh, crisp, lemon-like at first, followed by zesty mandarin orange flavours that finally matured to mellow honey apricots. Best of all coloured like the upcoming Chinese New Year - perfect gold. — 4 years ago
Not quite as good as I remember this the last time I had it. There was more of a smoky element that wasn’t there before and it seemed that the fruit wasn’t quite as bright. Still, this was a very nice wine and wish I had more of it. — 4 years ago
A slightly stinky front. Then real deep clarity of raspberry fruit. There’s a gentle luscious center of hauntingly pure aged fruit (dried roses, soft cherry?) leading into the end palate. Really lucid. Delicious. — 5 years ago
1985 DRC Grandes Echezeaux carries the magical scent of that makes you dream with more of this bottles. Intense and vibrant red fruits, spices, earthy & roses. The palate still dense, complex, a work of art! — 6 years ago
This is absolutely one of the best Rosés for the money. With good Rosés now hovering around $40, this producer is one of the top producers in Basque Country. While others have dramatically increased their Rosés prices, Ameztoi has inched their prices year to year.
Rosés have gotten so popular and their prices have skyrocketed relatively high in the last five years. So much so, I just read an article about fake Roses being produced in and exported out of France.
I selected this Rosé for Hedy’s Strawberry Gazpacho, Tarragon, Basil, Olive Oil. It married the bright fruits nicely, strawberry. The Rosé has just a bit of fizz from the carbonic tank process. The minerality & hint of herbs made for a even tug of war with the Tarragon & Basil.

Becoming one of my fav NV as of late. Balanced and pure with a mix of all things great Champagne has to offer. Deliciousness that will smoke almost anything at this price point. — 8 years ago
Delicious blanc de noir which was constantly evolving in the glass. Seem to enjoy it more and more as it breathe with flavours of fresh green apples and citrus. — 9 years ago
2001 vintage. Medium garnet. Quite fresh fruit forward raspberry and red plums. Roses and heavy oil fumes. Touches of smoke and woody notes. On the palate, very smooth, silky. Medium bodied. Medium plus acidity, high tannins - very integrated and mouth puckering. Finish is edging to long - fruit forward and cherry liqueur notes. Very decent and drinking well. Would personally keep for another 5+ years before opening as this is still evolving nicely. Still lacks soul - a little too manufactured for my palate. — 10 years ago

It’s 1/2 bottle n/v Billecart evening.
This is a more appropriate color of rose for the Rosé color of this champagne.
My go to n/v Rosé Champange for a number of reasons…quality & 1/2 bottle availability are right up there.
Blood orange, black cherries, Rainer cherries, lean strawberries, pomegranate juice, hints of raw rhubarb, grainy, grippy, sharp chalkiness, crunchy volcanics, limestone, sea fossils, baguette crust, deep white spice, orange lilies, peach roses, excellent, lively acidity with a rich, well balanced smart finish that starts clean, ripe fruits falling onto perfect minerality. — 4 years ago
