Hungarian blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and the native Kekfrankos (Blaufrankish) grape. Deep purple color with some periwinkle highlights. Nose is quite herbal combined with sour cherry and Forrest Floor. Pallet is dark cherry driven with hints of plum, blackberry, graphite, spices, leather and vanilla. Great complexity. High acidity, full bodied and medium tannins. Well balanced. — 3 years ago
great addition to the steak. best advice from the waiter — 6 years ago

Nice balance between sweetness and acidity. Mineral aroma, hint of volcanic ash, with a very nice finish. — 8 years ago
Old native variety from Badacsony, along the slopes of Lake Balaton in Western Hungary. Reminiscent of Somloi Juhfark - waxy, full, smoky, flinty. Some freshness despite the full bodied and savory character. Volcanic, like Somló. — 8 years ago
One of the better wines I’ve had this year (delayed post from Dec ‘22) and a total surprise. From the Keknyelu grape planted in the volcanic hilly region on the north shore of Lake Balaton. Something between carricante and Silvaner. Smells and tastes intensely like wet basalt. Subtle hints of pineapple and stone fruit. Light. Lovely. — 3 years ago
Also goes well with a boat ride down the Danube #hungary — 6 years ago
Interesting and complex wine. A bitter rose/copper colored. Accessible and easy to drink with quite some tropical fruit, but also some butter and toast. Acidity for enough bite and velvety for pairing with rich fish. — 7 years ago
Pinot Noir from Badacsony, along the slopes of Lake Balaton in Western Hungary. Really savory and soft. Extreme beetroot on the nose, with some herby dill/tarragon stuff behind. Wild. Light and refreshing somehow. — 8 years ago
Wow, incredibly fresh and spicy. Notes of pepper, violets, blackberry, and tart cherry on the nose. The palate was lifted, floral and spicy with mouthwatering acidity and masses of inner floral tones. It reminds me of Lacrima, yet more structured and refined. What a beautiful wine. — 8 years ago
So happy to pair this Hungarian Pinot Noir with Christmas dinner - bacon-wrapped rosemary pork tenderloin, cranberry sauce and twice baked potatoes. Reminds me of red burgundy but with more dried cranberry, spice and everything nice,, including some fizz. @Delectable Wine it’s a red — 3 years ago

We loved this little treat of a white wine although now I can remember the name of the grape. White from Lake Balaton area. According to Young somms of Budapest, this lake is really the hot region these days here in Hungary. The wines are crisp and fresh and firm with excellent body and pleasurability. If you can find it, drink it 🐚🐚🐚 — 8 years ago
