The “shelf talker” for this 2019 Chianti Classico DOCG made it sound ideal for tonight’s mushroom drenched Linguine dinner: “This is an old-school Chianti through and through with limited fruit and an emphasis on earth and cellar.” They were correct.
It displays a Gorgeous, dark fruit appearance backed up by a medium/full, well balanced team of crisp acidity and supporting chalky tannins at the solid finish.
There is ample fruit, but not the least bit primary or jammy; it is somewhat reminiscent of an evolving Left Bank Bordeaux. Overall, rather earthy and reserved, and a joy to swirl, sniff and savor.
