Langhe Nebbiolo 2017

I’ve been enjoying opening young inexpensive Nebbiolo the last week. It’s a fun contrast to the aged Nebbiolo I have that seems to be in a slump. Tannic but also cherry and energy. After a few days it tastes aged, with tobacco and spice predominating, but alas the tannin did not recede. — 4 years ago

Serralunga d'Alba Barolo DOCG Nebbiolo 2014

Expression of Elegance. 2914 was tough and he reduced quality for better maturation. Kept smaller grapes with less leaves. Paolo said this is the most elegant wine he ever made. 😍 — 7 years ago

Fiorenza Barbera d'Alba 2014

Toasted oak, black cherry, tar, spice box. Smooth, creamy, oak driven tannins balance with fruit driven acidity. Palate sings with juicy cherry fruit. Finishes dry with persistence. Superiore classification shows with the heavier oak style. Paired with basil pesto salmon. — 8 years ago

Il Crutin Langhe Nebbiolo 2012

summer, 2006, mid-sentence, tidal, we laughed about it after, but thoughts were escaping, tender red, the streetlight hinted sweet, but we held eachother close, chilled breeze marched on, our hoodies steadfast — 9 years ago

1hr in decanter. Cherry jolly rancher. With leather and hint of tar. Moderate tannins. Last drank about 9 months ago and like more. Would rate higher but ends a bit early. — 5 years ago

Rosserto Langhe Rossese Bianco 2015

Vegetal green aloe and barely noticeable smoke; like distant forest fire. Or like a great Tobala Mezcal. Apples, tangerine, plush. — 5 years ago

Reysu Roero Arneis 2015

Steely minerality, soft white flower notes, and green melon stand out. Round mouth feel with fresh acidity. Paired with shrimp pasta tonight. Food wine and a great QPR play. Purchase at the winery in Serralunga. — 7 years ago

Drank after manzone 2005 gramulre riserva. Same vintage(2005) cherry coke on nose. Cherry integrated tannins. Good length. Not as complex and less body than manzone but good barolo. — 5 years ago

Excellent. Wonderful mix of old world styling with contemporary accessibility. Tannins are certainly present but with some air and food, this was singing. Drink or hold. — 8 years ago
