Some sort of delicious red dessert wine. — 9 years ago
NO birthday is complete without some fortified wine from Portugal. This one makes its way from the island of Madeira. Insanely complex the aroma and flavor so are roasted mixed nuts, caramel, orange peel, sea salt, prosciutto and licorice. Excellent acidity on the weightless, though crazy long finish. #newyork #madeira @Rare Wine Co. — 9 years ago
Wow, great deal at Harris Tetter! Lovely nose and huge flavors of blackberry, cherry, zucchini, and fresh squash. The finish is a little weak and short, and needs some age or a decent decant, but I'm impressed! It being the first bottle on vacation could be skewing my palate or the fact that Sea Island is simply awesome! — 10 years ago
Floral on the nose. Crisp, pineapple and lime. Hints of sea salt. — 10 years ago
A taste of "home" -- this 2014 Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc rates high on my scale. Reminds me of our time living in Marlborough. Citrus, of course, the sea, a hint of passion fruit in this one! Yay! — 10 years ago
Insouciant but never phlegmatic. Starts brusque with secondary notes of wampum, kid gloves and snicker doodles, and tertiary notes of pink Big Island sea salt, fines herbes, and tortilla. A languid, chthonic wine. — 10 years ago
Carignano del Sulcis DOC 2011, 13.5%.
Bottle tasted in October 2014. Limited quantities produced with Carignano gapes from pre-phylloxera vineyard located right next to the beach and the sea, on the South West coast of Sardinia Island.
Color is a bit brown, but nose is quite rich: sweet, vinous, light pastry, liquored cherries, and even a little green.
In the mouth rich of smooth tannins and taste of licorice, almost a "chewable" wine. I really liked it! — 11 years ago

Made in Brooklyn, NY, by our friend & philosophically-trained wine-maker Abe Schoener. Other than the big smiley-faced emoticon there, I feel I should recuse myself from the rest of this tasting note. — 11 years ago
Kumeu River is situated north of Auckland where you would expect conditions to be warm but the Vineyard is kept cool by its proximity to two large bodies of water - the Tasman Sea 20 km to the west and the Pacific Ocean 30 km to the east keeping peak summer temperatures below 30C. Known for its brilliant Chardonnay this is not surprisingly a very good Pinot. — 8 years ago
Had a bottle of this great wine at The Ocean Club for my birthday!! Really great with our Chilean Sea Bass. — 9 years ago
Just had it with a Red Velvet cupcake with a scoop of Sea salt Caramel & Pineapple coconut icecreams. So Great! — 9 years ago
Like a cool mashup between a Viognier and a muscadet. Nose of white flowers, sea spray, jasmine tea , yellow peach. Absolutely beguiling. Combination of stone fruit -+ green apple + pear, with jasmine throughout. Long. Zingy acidity more like a muscadet than a Viognier. Finishes clean and long. — 9 years ago
Salina is an amazing little island part of the Aeolian islands, a volcanic archipelago in the Tyrrhenian sea north of Sicily... well, my dear friends #carlo and #andrea #hauner they transmit into their bottles all the aromas the essence the breeze the light the flowers the trees the cappers surrounding this paradise lost on earth. Regarding the unforgettable Passito Riserva paired with handmade house-fresh sicilian cannoli that's like to be in Arcadia Shangri-la Utopia... at one time! http://www.hauner.it/ — 10 years ago
Loads of tropical fruits on the nose; pineapple, passion fruit, guava, apricots, and acacia flowers. White stone fruits, grapefruit zest and sea salt on the palate. Lovely chard; crisp, complex, and enough fruit to round out the mineral notes. — 10 years ago
Delicious scotch! The perfect blend of everything good the island has to offer: A bit of oak, a bit of spice, a bit of smoke, a bit of sea salt, a bit of honey, a bit of caramel, a bit of peat. This scotch has it all. My absolute favourite to date. — 10 years ago
Underripe white peach, sea salt, new action figure-in-the-box-smell. Very exciting and promising juice (for first vintage of Riesling too!) from Shinn. — 11 years ago
This is just too good. Supple, perfectly ripe fruit with just enough of the Asian spices, sea salt and jasmine tea notes to make it a superb New Zealand Pinot. The kind of bottle that never lasts the night. — 11 years ago
The color is a light and pretty red that one can easily read through. Nose is red berries, cinnamon, and the red apple skins common in Oregon Pinot Noir. Palate texture is buoyant with purple candies, and cold red fruits that appear to be laced with sea salt. Acid is obvious but balanced. Finish is about 2 minutes of salinity. This wine tastes like a purple oyster. Retail: approx $25 — 9 years ago
Very floral aroma and tastes of passion fruit...smooth and refreshing at lunch paired with a pan fried sea bass — 9 years ago
So damn smooth, restrained acidity, sea air and hints of grass. Would drink this everyday. — 9 years ago

The 2011 is golden yellow, aroma of golden apples & sea water. The beach is here. Crisp, dry mineral favors with a touch of lemon & brown spice. The perfect raw shellfish wine! — 11 years ago
Nectarine, apricot and pear, evolves into spring flowers and sea salt. Palate is surprisingly complex, fruit is balanced, acidity soaring, and that bit of white pepper hits on the finish w a pleasant touch of almondy bitterness. — 11 years ago
In a sea of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, this one stands out for being well in check. It starts with a typical New Zealand gooseberry nose, then into a sweet attack with an interesting passionfruit mid-palate. Pretty refreshing and I would go back for a second glass, which is unusual in New Zealand SB. — 11 years ago
