Rich and ripe, slightly oily texture, though lovely acidity. This is a great example of where the future of South African wine is headed — 9 years ago
Deep ruby glass with Crimson rim. Decant 30 mins for a deeply complex medium nose of earth, black cherry, raspberry, cassis, anise, leather, coffee, cocoa, pepper, spice, tobacco, blackberry and vanilla. Gentle acid to the palate of medium body with black fruits, anise, and black pepper, Soft tannins lead to a medium long slightly chalky finish of pepper, black fruit and smoke. Very good balance and structure. Soft tannins better as a sipper or with lighter dishes. Great value at $27.99 USD for this South African Shiraz. — 9 years ago
Tasted in a lineup of multiple stellar South African wines - so much going on here. Would love to lay this down and revisit. — 9 years ago
A very nice South African blend for the price — 9 years ago
Crisp and clean South African Chenin. Nice fruit notes, mildly tropical, and wonderfully light acidity. Fantastic all around white, and great bang for your buck. — 10 years ago
My first South African wine in forever. — 10 years ago
This is the best South African wine I've had. (Out of maybe 10 in my 18 yrs as a wine lover.) Very enjoyable. The alcohol is excessive on the nose but not in the mouth. — 10 years ago
An absolute pleasure to drink. Blown away by this South African chard. Great little bottle for under $20, definitely undervalued. — 11 years ago
Sample from #CapeClassics.
Medium ruby red. Layered nose with high intensity not watered down. Definite South African Funk starting off a little stinky, gamey, chalky and ended with some light vegetal notes. Solid cherries carried throughout. Moderate plus tannins (7.5/10) with not much fruit. Full bodied with balanced acidity. Very Bordelaise like withdark red cherries, some savory elements, earthy characteristics like iron and minerality. Very dry and long finish. Beautiful Bordeaux blend from South Africa. Drink till 2024. — 8 years ago
Best South African Chardonnay that I've had to date. Golden color with brilliant reflections of light gold. An initial attack of light oak on the palate but finishes with great freshness from the balanced acidity. A medium bodied wine with notes of lemon and pineapple and a slight hint of nutmeg on the finish. — 9 years ago

Eben Sadie, King of South African Syrah, actually is a genius with every varietal he works with. From Syrah, Grenache, Chenin Blanc, and even this, 100% old vine Cinsault, raised in concrete and stainless steel, this wine is pure, vibrant, spicy and fresh with great depth in its pretty bouquet of wild strawberries, dark , stemmy fruit and minerals. A unique wine that can certainly age yet is absolutely delicious now. A fine, fine representation of single varietal Cinsault made by a great winemaker at the height of his craft. — 9 years ago
This South African Syrah is pricey for the country's wines but it doesn't disappoint. Much like a Northern Rhone style -- packed with fruit, acid and spice in just the right balance. — 9 years ago
Found a treasure of South African wines at New Seasons. This little gem is has tons of tropical notes on the nose. Soft and lush on the palate where all those tropical fruits play on the tongue. A soft and silky finish. At $8.99 a bottle, I may buy a case! — 10 years ago

Having visited the vineyard, I have fond memories whenever I enjoy Vrede en Lust wines, but this one is such a pleasure to enjoy. Smooth with a South African twist! Love it! — 8 years ago
