Quality Blau with a bit of age seems a life hack for a northern Rhone jones. — 8 years ago
My first thought when I pulled this 11 year old Sauv Blanc out of the locker was that I was probably five to seven years too late. Boy, was I wrong. Instead of golden, it was still light to medium straw color. Nose and palate were a bit subtle with lemon and peach, but still good acidity and minerality. A mouth watering glass of wine. I'd look for more, but with about 17 cases produced that may be a tough task. Sadly, the 60+ year old Sauv Blanc vines were only producing about 30-50 gallons of juice per year and have since been pulled. — 9 years ago

Super dark. Very high alcohol content. Lots of balsamic vinegar and maybe a hit of strawberry. — 9 years ago
Skin-fermented old vine Pinot Grigio. Beautiful color that I would describe as a blood orange wine rather than an orange wine. Very interesting and enjoyable, but obviously showing very young at this point. According to Abe's notes, Steverjan is the Slovenian name for the village of Collio, the home of Radikon and Gravner. — 10 years ago
Balanced acidity, a touch (slight) of residual sugar. Aromatic! Should probably have waited a few years though fantastic now. — 10 years ago
Strong clove on the nose. Super yummy for a fantastic price!! — 11 years ago
This is a deep red wine table wine. Tannins are Le, fruit is bold, has the nose of a Cab color of a Petit-Sarah, and finishes like a Cab-Franc. Paid $9.99 at local grocer. Product of Don Sebastiiani and Sons — 12 years ago
Fennel, black currant, black olives, and black pepper. This is a big wine. — 8 years ago
A group of guys decided to meet up at our Wine Storage facility and bust out some unique bottles! Scores and notes to follow!
The best of the 3 Petite Sirahs opened tonight. The fruit on this '09 was absurd. This is a Shafer project, and when their Relentless dwindled in Petite sirah make up, it became this. This is a big medley of blue and black fruits, licorice, sweet tarts and vanilla. Best petite sirah to date easily. Thanks Bill! — 8 years ago

A nice light bodied, easy drinking red blend, low acidity, peppery at first with a long finish of blackberry jam. — 9 years ago
Pretty dry and a little smoky. Good! — 9 years ago
Dark fruit, but nimble. Daresay the 1899 is curvaceous for an Oregon Pinot Noir?! Made without electricity or modern equipment, Illahe has gone totally old school in finding out how the soul of wine shows with rustic techniques, like 50% whole cluster, native yeasts, and foot pedal bicycle pumps give a wine mysterious depths. Answer: makes unmistakable big & subtle differences! — 10 years ago
A lovely Austrian wine, apparently similar to a Pinot! Beautiful vibrant flavours...lovely with Austrian dumplings :) — 10 years ago
2014 vintage.
Soooo good. Durian, custard-apple (a heady mix of terpenes and thiols) with searing acidity and elevated body. #7solution — 10 years ago

Dried flowers with a touch of volatility on the finish. Acid sneaks up at the end. Not for everyone, but definitely for me. — 11 years ago
With apps at Vintana. Not a typical Napa Chard. Perhaps a bit of Jura in it. We really enjoyed this. — 12 years ago
2016 vintage. Very strawberries and cream on the palate. Little bit of chalkiness, peach yogurt, rose water, white raspberry. Delivers on the quality and definitely well-made, just personally wish it was a little less creamy. Did not notice the overt creaminess when I tried it before. — 8 years ago
This is Maison Louis Jadot's first wine project outside of Burgundy, France, since 1859. The 2013 is their debut release from the Résonance Vineyard in the Yamhill-Carlton wine region, and does not disappoint. Vivid Ruby with a nose of spice accented red fruits. On the palate raspberry and cherry flavors, hints of cinnamon and earthy notes. Tannins are well structured on a long finish ending with some tangy mineral notes. Aging will benefit. Tasting Sample. — 9 years ago
Ripe. Full tannin. A very serious blaufränkisch. Better on day two, needs more time frankly. — 9 years ago
Oh yes I did. If the somms of Texas are going to grab pretty much every bottle not earmarked for NYC and CA, then I'm drinking this one! Grown on limestone, yes, this is a very different idea of what Gruner can do. Embrace it. There are grapes, and there is the soil/dirt/rocks/minerals they are planted in. — 9 years ago
Lush like a black velvet jacket. Dark fruit jamminess but not extracted, gripping acidity & sliky tannins w/a hit or black pepper spiciness. Long interesting finish — 10 years ago
Crux Fermentation Project 2014 Banished Tough Love Barrel Aged Imperial Stout. Perhaps the best barrel aged stout I've had. More iron fist in a velvet glove than in your face bourbon and stout concoction. Intoxicating nose of vanilla beans, cherries & chocolate. Those flavors carry over in spades to the palate, but no bourbon heat kick on the finish. So well integrated. — 10 years ago
Amazing experiment of terroir and three incredible winemakers. Loved Andrew of Bouchaine's take on Lindsay's Vineyard. This is a fun and delicious Pinot. — 11 years ago
This one... so good & a great little Tribut @FTP — 12 years ago

The 2015, the other half of the night's comparison. Less subtle, more floral. Jasmine, rose petal, honey. All powerful, but all a bit separate and distinct. I think this could lie down for a good while. Will be pleased to try another bottle in a few years. — 8 years ago
